I own a few Bucks but nothing out of the 300 series yet. Trying to get a feel and idea for which of the 300 series I might like best. Not sure how many blades I want, 3, 2, or 1.

You are thinking about this all wrong....think of the 300 series as a set....you need one of each.

I own most of the 300 series knives and end up with the 311 in my pocket more than twice as often as any of the rest of that series....although I really like a 301 and 303 too.

I guess if I don't comment everyone will think I have passed on....ha

OK, First off what kind of knives do you have now. Do you want something like them or something different. Do you want just a couple of knives to represent the series in a sort of personal collection or do you want a user for carry. What type of scale materials do you like. Do you want something new, cheap as possible or are you willing to search for a discontinued model ? These are all good questions.

Go online and look at catalog, does anything in the model series strike you.

I would say the all around classic design 300 series is the 301, a three blade stockman not unlike many other manufactures versions of the classic stockman knife. The 303 is a smaller version. After that it just up to what you like. Like Stumps and his long thin two blade trapper, a discontinued classic in black sawcut delrin. Seen for sale pretty often on a certain auction site.

Look at some pictures and see what you are drawn to.

If I was only going to own ONE 300 series knife (thank goodness that's not necessary) it would be the current 301 - I like the heavy duty aspect of that knife - it will do anything I need a pocketknife to do; beyond that I would move up to a lockback or a fixed blade. OH
Ps I'm really partial to my original Camillus made 301, but I keep it squirreled away due to its connection to my Grandma (I'd would hate like the dicken's to loose it).

Well, I don't much see the need for 3 blades, so I own the 309 and 302. They both serve a purpose. The 309 is for times when I want to carry but don't want a big bulge in my pocket. The 302 is a good all-rounder, and its thinness makes it a joy to carry. It's also good looking to boot (yellow delrin).

301 or 307

I have to agree. Its a toss up between these two. I have had a 301 for over 30 years. The 307 I just bought used last year and has become a favorite of mine. The 303 is a nice size for dress pants. The 309 is small enough you can throw it in your pocket along with the other 300 your carrying.

I will have to go with the 301 as I carry it everyday. I watch Larry's list and hope to get a 307 someday.

The 301 shows up in my pocket most often but I like the 303 almost as well.
