Just out of curiousity, for those of you who collect watches, what's your current favorite seiko diver?

I only have two. A Yao customized 007 and a 779 Black Monster. The Black Monster sees a lot of wrist time. I like it more than I thought I would. I have another Yao customized 007 on the way though.

Here is a Seiko divers reference w/ lots of pics of the various models.

Seiko Divers reference

Of the ones I don't have I like the 6309 and 6306, and of course the grand Seiko.

I'm partial to the Seiko SKXA33, truly a tough watch if I've ever seen one.

I like the Yao/Seiko 200 meter diver with the Mk1 dial and sword hands.

The one I bought in 1991, a 7002-7009. Sweet little watch. I'd be wearing it to this day if it weren't for my Omega SMP...

i bought a new auto divers watch, a big/thick heavy duty watch, in 1980, paid about $200 give or take a $ for it, have replaced the band 3 times, other than that no maintanence/cleaning/oiling, still looks pretty good too, wear it when biking occasionally still, and keeps pretty good time, loses about 1-3 minutes a week.

i dont have a clue as to the model #, but it looks about like all the higher end seiko divers watches, has an all black bezel, have seen some w/a red/black bezel, a great watch i used 24/7 for 15+ yrs w/no probs, i would say i have gotten my $$ outta it X3, i wish i did know the model #, any guesses??

I picked up a SKX173 about 6 months ago. It has a Singapore movement (as opposed to Japanese) and it regulates nicely. I believe it is exclusively marketed to the U.S. and carries a 3 year warranty.

The large 200m quartz, with the black face, black bezel, and day & date window is my favorite...Set that up with a Rhino strap, and I'm good to go.:).

thanks for the link shootist, it appears mine is a '76 6306-7001, the 7001 sounds familiar from ordering the bands, didnt think it was that old, but, after thinking about it, that is prob correct, i got it right after me and my wife moved in together, in '76, so that would be about right, prob got in early '77 or so.

a great watch,

greg

My Black Monster that just came in the mail today. Man, this thing is awesome. I have a Rhino band on it and it feels like it grew out of my wrist!

I wasn't sure how much I would like mine until I got it. I really like that watch.

You guys are determined to get me to buy that Black Monster. Don't I spend enough on knives? Do I have to know what time it is, too?
