So whaddayasay? I know it's been done before but I haven't seen it done with a poll. If i've left anything out let me know and maybe one of the moderators can add it.

[edit] Mine is (of course) the 204 [/edit]

gotta love that sharpmaker. It's not like I've thrown away my sharpening stones, etc.; I just don't use them as often as I once did.

I was partial to the Lansky types until I bought a Sharpmaker.

Sharpmaker is tops in my book. Easy to use. Inexpensive. And new diamond hones coming soon for rapid re-profling.

I use a Smith's (name brand) kit that I got at Wal-mart when I was 14. Not as ggod as a 204, but it gets my knives hair popping.

Edge Pro Apex (with $35 set of extra stones and you can't have too many polishing tapes). Makes a blade as sharp as can humanly be made, if that's important. The others are good as well, but that Edge Pro really does it for me. There's a few nuances to master, but it's not at all very difficult.

The Sharpmaker is the easiest to use, sharpens just about anything, and is cheap. And as stated the new diamond rods will make reprofiling possible.

Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker 204...Duh.:).

...Then the Lansky Deluxe.

I mostly use 4" diamond and ceramic pocket hones. I have more control by getting up close and personal with the blade and hone. I have a 4"strop made of a piece of leather glued to lattice.
Not sophisticated, but it worksbest for me.

Chalk me up under the "Other" category. The only knife sharpener I used is called "Vinny." He is one of the best knife sharpeners in the business and works here in our facilities. :) No one and nothing else touches my knives.

Spyderco Sharpmaker 204.

Uncomplicated usage, multi-functional and cheap.
My sole complaint relates to the relatively great amount of work to reprofile an edge. I hope the announced diamond stone upgrade will ease this work.

Silicon carbide sandpaper that's glued to plexiglass with spray-on adhesive. Makes for a budget 2 sided benchstone. May end up getting real benchstones at some point once all the sandpaper I have left over from various home, bike, and car repairs runs out, and when I finish college and have more money that I can justify spending on something other than knives :)
