Hi all. I've decided I want to get a new knife for EDC. I currently have a RAT-1 and love it. I just want to buy a new knife. Haha. I've been thinking about getting a spyderco because I don't have one in my collection yet. Just want to know what you all think a good first spyderco would be. Thanks!

Can't go wrong with a Delica or Endura, however, the Manix 2 is my personal favorite. Love the Native 5 also.

PM2 for sure. Has a great locking system that I prefer over the back lock system like on the endura, etc. 4 way pocket clip, plenty of blade length,
it has finish and handle options, it opens smoothly and is quite sharp. Not that bad of a price either. I'm definitely a PM2 proponent.

If under $50, go with Tenacious. Under $75, go with Endura or Delica. If under $125, go with Manix 2. If under $150, go PM2. I think that seems to be the general idea. I don't have the Tenacious or the Manix 2, but I have a couple of Delicas, an Endura, and a PM2. Can't really go wrong with one of those. [edit: Yeah, the Native is also a great option]

As others have said, Delica or Endura is a great place to start. PM2 and Military are my favorites though. Kind of depends on how you use your EDC knives. Hard use or just light/medium EDC stuff?

My first was a Spyderco Native (VG-10) from Walmart a number of years ago (when they carried it). Got the Native 5 in S35VN this year and like it a lot. Big jump in price.

The Delica and Endura in VG-10 followed the first Native and I really like the Delica. It is a good EDC size for me. Never got all that attached to the Endura (have two) as it's bigger. I use both of these as reference points when I look at knives on line to judge whether or not I am likely to be comfortable with the size for pocket carry.

See lots of suggestions for Delica and Endura. Not saying they aren't good but I feel the Stretch is a contender with those. For me is an excellent compromise between the two and fills a lot of roles well.
