Just curious how it plays out among a big group of knife enthusiasts?

I don't see a poll option in this forum software, so to keep it brief, please enter one of the following in the title of your response, and clarify in the body, if necessary. Here are the options:

  • Folding, lock-back
  • Folding, liner lock
  • Folding, slip-joint (e.g. Swiss Army)
  • Multi-tool (other than Swiss Army)
  • Fixed blade
  • Balisong "butterfly knife"
  • Automatic
  • Other

Well, considering I've been carrying the same knife for a dozen years, I'd say its a small, folding frame lock.

I tend to rotate between Victorinox Supertinker, Compact, and Spartan Lite.

Lately, I've been trying to get back into locking folders and balisongs, but I don't think it will last, realistically. ;)

My favorite is a fixed blade, but they tend to get more attention so I usually go with my second choice: a frame lock.

There is a poll function. Start a thread and go down to the additional options. Second from the bottom is "post a poll".
If you do create a poll I suggest adding Frame lock as an option.

I don't have that option. I must not have enough posts yet.

Might have to be a paying member, I didn't think of that. I can post the poll if you like? That way you can see the percentages. Sorry I assumed you just missed something.

On my own time, I prefer a multitool ( Victorinox Spirit X), usually paired with a small fixed blade or modern folder.

At work, I carry a small traditional slip joint, which works better with dress clothes.

Small traditional slipjoint and usually a keychain multi-tool as well. When I need more knife, it's usually my faithful old Victorinox Adventurer or an Opinel.
