I know many people will carry different tools for travelling (driving, vacation, boating, etc.) than their EDC tools, but just curious what goes with you?

I always have my Leatherman Wave with me, which is also my EDC tool. It goes on the belt in the morning, helps me at work, also when I get home or out in the woods or fishing. I have had alot of people tell me I am going overkill using it as an EDC tool, and a travel tool also. I ask why? I go by the saying its better to have the tools and not need them, than to need them and not have them, which in most cases i need them. :D

If I travel I always take a Leatherman Juice S2 and keep the Leatherman Supertool in the trunk, that goes for the weekends too. When I get home from work the Supertool comes off the belt and the Juice goes in the pocket.

I take my LM Surge with me most trips as a sort of mini-toolbox for the bag or glovebox. Pairing that with a small vic for the tweezers, I'm pretty set. For pocket carry while away it depends on what I am doing. If I'm camping, then I like to take my locking Vic Fireman. It does 95% of what I need done with a low weight. If i'm going to be out and about on the town, then maybe my Farmer will get a little pocket time.

However, I never leave home for more than a day without the one-two punch of my LM micra and Swisstech pliers tool. Both slip right into my watch pocket and offer service for whatever small jobs that might be done, and both travel unnoticed in my checked baggage (not worth thieving). Love these little tools:D:thumbup:

Swiss+Tech Utilikey
Swiss+Tech MicroTechnician with LED

When I'm not flying my EDC is the same whether I travel or not. Vic Rucksack, Vic Classic and on duty as a LEO my S&W automatic (knife). When wearing my EMT hat I also have a Gerber 400 with my gear.

When i travel i take a Vic Farmer. I don't travel too far, just within the province by bus, and a Farmer is usually all i need. I use the keyring and a short, thin chain and clip as a lanyard to attach to a belt loop when i reach my destination. But it rides inside my breifcase while on the bus, along with a flashlight and a good book.

Leatherman Charge Ti. I keep coming back to this tool. In fact, I have just bought another one to reside in my work bag.

LeathermanSkeletool CX and Victorinox alox Soldier make for safe travel.

Hmm. A Classic, always a Classic (Mine's a Wenger, need to get a Vic). In fact, for long road trips, just the Classic. Seriously, the little blade handles most tasks with ease, and you don't have a larger knife digging into you pockets.
That and either an Explorer or Helmsman in a bag.

For extended trips I always pack a Swisschamp, Rambler and one or another Leatherman, formerly a Super Tool, now a Core (with a candidate Surge in the wings). Whichever is carried in my pocket depends on circumstances. One exception was on a trip to England a few years back when, because of British knife laws, I took a PST instead. Another thing I take along is a compass, seldom necessary but sometimes very.

Today I decided to vary my stuff. I moved my SOG Powerlock, which up until 2 hours ago resided in my truck, to my desk at work. I've decided to get a proper toolkit to ride in my truck. My Charge TTi, which generally rides in my backpack, has yet to do anything when I'm out and about. It's going into a drawer at home, where it will remain because I usually only use it at home anyway. I guess it will go on trips with me if we're driving somewhere other than in my truck.

Otherwise, my carry doesn't really change...Micra on the keychain, Farmer or Spartan in the pocket. OHT when out hiking. Good times.

Usually I'll throw my Wave in a back-pack (or in the glove box of the car if we're driving) and a Classic or Micra in the shaving kit. Those and the traditional slipjoint in my pocket and I'm off to the races.

I recently took two long car trips. On each I brought:

Vic Spirit
Vic Huntsman
Case peanut

The Spirit is a regular edc, the Huntsman was in my toiletry bag (didn't use it), and the peanut was for dress pants carry at a wedding.

On Sunday, I'm leaving for a five day motorcycle camping trip. I'll be bringing:

Vic Spirit
Wenger SI
Bark River Northstar
No-name hatchet

In about 3 weeks, My wife and I are going to Indiana for my dad's wedding, and I have already decided on taking the Wave, since it goes with me everywhere. The sheath broke on me on friday, so I ordered a pocket clip on Friday, so I hope it will be here in a few days. I prefer pocket carry anyway, because it is more discrete and I don't like a big lump on my belt. I know the Wave will get alot of use on the road, and when we get to Indiana, as most people in my family up there don't carry a knife on them, so I know I will on more than one count here, "Can I borrow your knife?"

ViC Outrider and Leatherman Core, I also have some basic tools stashed in the vehicle like long screw drivers and Vise Grips, and a Hammer.
