Not talking about TSA compliant here, just what you like to take with you on vacation.

For me it's the climber because of the scissors, corkscrew for wine, bottle opener for beers, knife for cutting limes and light food preparation.

Been thinking of trying the leatherman CS4 for my next vacation because it offers the same toolset as the climber but also offers usable pliers. My last trip one of the zipper tags broke off and the zipper got stuck. I had to ask someone at the front desk of our hotel if I could borrow some pliers to get it open.

Only hesitation is that I've read some poor reviews regarding the Juice fit and finish and that the bottle opener used as a lever when opening wine with the corkscrew will often chip the bottle.

Nothing beats the Vic finish, but the CS4 isn't bad for what it is. It has actually useable pliers, something no SAK has in that size, and better screwdrivers that can adapt to an versatile bit system. It is worth considering, IMHO.

Although Leatherman claims the bottle opener is also a corkscrew assist, it isn't stable enough in that role and can chip the bottle lip. That happened to me once. The corkscrew still does the job, though, if you handle it like on your SAK. On either I screw down almost to the lip, lever the SAK/CS4 against it to break adhesion, then muscle out the cork.

Travel for me usually means hot weather and beaches. So flip flops, shorts, and sometimes a t-shirt is the usual attire. Therefore, I can't be weighed down by my usual EDC so I'll just throw a Leatherman Style PS in my pocket and clip a 943 as well and call it good. The bottle opener on the Style works great and fast which is important since that's typically what gets used the most while on vacation.

SwissChamp and a Leatherman Charge TTi for international.

Compact and a Leatherman Charge TTi for domestic.

If the tool mostly stay in a check-in baggage or backpack after arrival, at a urban location, then Charge TTi or Victorinox Spirit
If the tool is needed on person for both urban and rural setting, then most likely a Vic Swisschamp/Ranger in a leather sheath (friendly profile, non-one-hand opening, small blade under 3")
If the tool is needed for mostly outdoor setting, then a Vic Soldier 2008 serves me well.

For a good number of years back then, a Swisschamp was my only pocketknife multitool. These days I seldom use it as an EDC anymore, but it always comes along on a trip of any duration, anywhere as sort of a "security blanket." It has come in handy sometimes.

As I only travel by vehicle, I have assorted SAKs and MT's in all of them. Let's just say I'll never be caught without scissors, a pair of pliers, a corkscrew, a bottle opener, and a blade when on the road.

Victorinox Huntsman. It has the tools that I use most on both city trips and outdoor activities and is still very pocketable.

Wish they made this with pliers, scissors and a knife.

One or the other of my Leatherman Charge Ti's goes everywhere with me. Usually clipped to one of my hip pockets, though I do have both the leather and the nylon sheath for them.

Well, it does have scissors and pliers and since I always carry a dedicated blade with me it works out quite well. The hidden tweezers in the handle are a real nice touch also.

Timely thread, as we're loading up to head to a little inn in the mountains for a week.

My travel carry is a Victorinox Huntsman. Beyond the blades, I like that it has scissors (handy with kids around as there are lots of little threads and tags to snip off clothes), a corkscrew (the wife and enjoy enjoy a glass of wine in the evening), the tiny screwdriver that threads into the corkscrew (fixing glasses and sunglasses), a bottle opener (for beer), a saw (for helping the kids make walking sticks, sling shots, etc.), tweezers (for splinters and ticks). I also throw an old pair of pliers into the glove box of our Ford so -- voila -- instant "multi-tool."

If we're staying at a place with a kitchen or kitchenette, I'll also usually pack my Opinel no. 8, as the knives in those kitchens inevitably cut about as well as a scrap piece of sheet metal.
