What would you like to see under your Christmas tree for your knife making? I'll go first.

-More belts
-Surface grinder
-bandsaw

Who is next?

I asked for a very specific knifemakers vise. I even provided links to the very specific ones I would like. I even told them which of the two models I want. Yesterday I was told my inlaws still can't figure it out so they are sending me a check. (sigh) Okay, at least I get what I want... I just have to wait longer and work harder to get it... nothing new there.

Under the spreading chestnut tree the village smithy set up his brand new shiny power hammer. Soon it was shiny no more.

Wish list I'll likely get (cause I'll be the one buying the stuff for people to give me): Assorted small tools and stabilized wood. :)

Wish list that I'll never get: Foredom, Surface grinder, Hardness tester... :(

I just got myself a file guide from Uncle Al's. I'll consider that my Christmas gift to myself. I quit asking for tools a long time ago because all I got was a blank stare. Now I ask for money to buy what I want

I would like the materials to build an addition on my shop to get my forge set-up and running. But I would settle for steel, stabilized burl wood, moasic pin material, sandpaper, a few tubes of elbow grease, lots of 2"x72" belts in different grits, a VFD and a 1 HP motor for my Buffalo drill press I'm restoreing, and a Palmgren X Y table to go along with it. My list may sound a little greedy, but anything on there would do.

The tab-mounted one, though... so I could set it up in my standard vise.

Not that I'll get any of it, but my list would be:
KMG variable speed setup for 120v, platen, slack grind and small wheel tool arms.
120v heat treating oven capable of 12" long knives. Has to get hot enough for most stainless. It can be tight otherwise though, I probably won't do more than two or three knives at once.
Better lighting in my shop, and some heat. (these I might actually get, provided I get a gift card or two to a home improvement store)

Running 220v to my shop is a real pain, thus the 120v stuff, but if we follow through with a possible plan to setup a transfer box for a generator in the garage I'll make sure to have the electrician run the extra line to give me at least one 220v outlet in there. Heck, even if he just runs the wires and deals with the circuit breaker. I could do it, but with something like that I'd rather let the pro do it for safety.

Still pretty new to knife making so some essentials like zam, some more epoxy and lots of sand paper.. A drill press is my next big purchase. Haven't gotten into grinding blades yet but once i feel I won't ruin every blade Im gonna buy some 154, and some s30 :)

A new large propane tank.
Belts for the KMG.
Steel is always good.
Good looking naked woman as my apprentice. (she isn't expected to work just give inspiration)
Knob Creek to forget about the blade I just screwed up and through into the lake.
The list gets rather long I will end there.
Dan

A truck load of 2 X 72 belts....oh well hopefully I will get my free 3M Cubitron II trial belt by Christmas:) Oh and I would like to retire from my day job (God I've come to hate airplanes) and make knives at will.
