What's your longest wait for a Custom Shop blade?

I've got one on order, and i'm wondering what the longest wait has been. Has anyone waited a year or more to get one?
 
I have my first on order, a boss jack with an upper swedge and tequila handles, paid for and eveything, I can't wait!

...but I have for maybe three months or so... dang it seems like it's been longer than that...

Sorry, I know that's not much help :(
 
I'm about 16 months in because I chose wood scales, which have to be dried and cured and stabilized and etc. I've heard of one that took maybe 7 years but that was because of some errors.

Another custom piece I ordered took only 4 months. Black canvas Micarta on a standard model, pretty quick and easy to work with.
 
Really depends on a lot of factors. Handle material is one of the biggest. Material has to be procured, cut, dried, dyed, and stabalized before it can even start to be worked on. The immediate availablity of a blank for the project is also a factor as well as the complexity of the desired work. There are some grinds that only a few people in the shop are capable of doing. It only takes a hand full of complex grinds to back up and the wait time increases. Many times it is just a matter of needing a machine to be availble to make a handle but even that can be a trick sometimes with as busy as we have been. Things have gotten better though. It was but a few years ago that the Custom Shop was running about two years wait time. I have done everything I can to speed it up and we are always striving to do better.

no worries Garth. Everyone here knows you are working like a madman... I hear some days you go for as much as 45 minutes on the grinder without even stopping for a shot of JWB

I was just curious what other folks wait times have been like. I'm only up to 9 months on my AK47, and I got the other 2 in my order in less than 3 months.

Hey Garth, while we have your attention, let me ask a silly question:

What is the custom shop charge for having a custom phrase lasered on the side of a blade? Can you do the spine on ~1/4" stock?

Not to hijack the thread but I was curious about the Busse Custom shop. Can you order any knife, past or present to your own specs, or are there only certain models available? I was interested in a HHFSH and a few other blades but wan't sure if one could get them via the custom shop.
