I'm not talking the KY kind, though that will work in a pinch. :)

I've found Frog Lube to work great, and being that it's food safe I don't have any worries when I'm doing camp chores and food prep.

I use coconut oil. It dries on the blade and creates a nice protective coating. Plus if you miss some cleaning it off it just give the food a coconut flavor. My wife buys the stuff to cook with and I am always using it for my knives and even metal I have stored to make a knife for later. I get the stink eye quite often but after 13 years Im used to it lol. You think she would have given up by now.

I am using Frog Lube as well and it works fine for me. But not applying so often to tell more about.

"Quick Release" on pivots and mineral oil on blades that may see food prep. I clean blades with "Blue Magic" polish sometimes.

Been a Frog lube fan for a while....but the coconut oil sounds pretty interesting. Frog Lube tastes like crap and smells like Ben-Gay.

I cant remember what i used for a long term storage, but it kind of dried up, and imprinted the cloth knife was wrapped in (or Busse net). Will frog Lube, or Tuff cloth or other Lubes mentioned above dry up like that in long term storage ?

I do like the smell of tufglide. The Miltec-1 seems to protect much longer and still lubes even after being wiped dry. Really comes into its own on firearms. I did a test on a hammer a few years ago between miltec-1 and tuffglide. The tuffglide side started showing rust spots after about 12 hours outside. The miltec-1 one took 3 days. Also the Miltec-1 works even better if you warm the metal with a hair dryer before applying.

Frog Lube paste. I do the hair dryer trick as well. I think I'll try the coconut oil on a blade or two. My wife buys it by the tub at Costco.

I had that happen when I didn't wipe the busse factory oil from an infimandu. super bummed.
