I am a little bothered by the way a few folks do around here and was currious as to what others think.

How do you feel about someone who's only intent when they buy a knife from the exchange is to re-list it when they recieve it for a profit?

I dont like it for this reason. Say there is a knife you have been wanting for a while and you save your pennies as many of us that dont have money trees growing out back have to, and the knife becomes available on the XC for a price that you are comfortable with paying and can afford only to be snatched up by these (flipper's) and re-listed a few days later for a price in which you are not comfortable with.
If the (flipper) would have not bought the knife then you would have been able to and you could enjoy it by using it or adding it to your collection, not just relisting it for a profit.

It seems like these people just lurk around all day in the XC waiting for the next good deal to snatch up.
IMO, I would never deal(selling or buying) from someone who I know does this just to make a profit of another HOG. I know the Bossman says "We eat our own" but this is a little different I think.

Well, whats your take on this?

Flipping has always been an issues with Busse knives. I noticed it with the dogfather that was just recently released with the last ganzaa.

I dont like it when people dont look in the WTB section before they sell something.

I don't like it but I don't see any realistic way to avoid it, other than adding people to your own "do not sell" list.

I have been beat out a few times by a few flippers.

My opinion on flippers is this. As a home builder I deal with "flippers" a lot and IMO they are a large part of the reason our economy is in the crapper today. So many middle men had to get their greedy little hands on property raising the price of land and homes to such and exorbitant rate that our economy could not support it. Add that to a few other factors and BAM! You have a recession/depression.

I know of some flippers on here and avoid them when possible. Sometimes their resale prices are within reason but you still wonder how much cheaper you could have bought it from the first guy.

I'm getting down from the soap box now . . .

This comes up every so often, and the discussion does little except get some folk riled up. The short answer is we can't really control what other people do, and each of us can choose who to do business with or not.

Well said.

I know we really can't do much about it, i'm with you DobyWon i don't like it and if i'm aware i certainly won't buy from them.

Dobywon, Did You not just do the same thing a couple of months ago?

You bought a pair of OJ Wardens here:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=643798

Then relisted one 2 weeks later for $60 more:foot::foot:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=647304

Now You have a thread crying about other people doing it?:confused:

I think that I have provided many, many folks here with some great deals. I have often taken a loss on my knives when I sold them. The only time I do sell is when I get myself in a pickle or I need some quick cash i know i can sell off a couple of my Busses but i dont lurk in the XC looking for the next good deal that i can make a dollar on no.

:yawn::yawn::yawn::D

But, you decided to make a profit on the OJ having just bought it 2 weeks earlier on the exchange?
Why did You not do the right thing and pass the good deal on to the next Guy?:confused:

um, as a matter of fact I did pass on a great deal with both of those wardens.

Just like the Hatchet you bought from me, you got it for 50 bucks less than I paid.

Actually Doby, You did not sell that Warden in your sale thread because I jumped on it and called BS:cool::cool:
Sorry I had to edit it out later.....

I personally have nothing against knife flipping, or any form of free market capitalism.
What bothers me is hypocrital threads like this one whining about something You just did.....

Markets go up and markets go down. Many interesting blades have come up this year as people have needed to raise cash. Some people have gotten some really great deals.

And like many in the housing market - you can play the flip game only as long as prices are rising. A few years ago any Busse or Swamp Rat listed on the exchange was snapped up in seconds and the prices really got up there. Things have calmed down a bit recently (last year or so - no kidding...) Given the economy and the supply of knives on the market.

Its a market folks. Miss a great deal? Hang in there - another will pop up

Such as it is - so shall it be :)

Enlighten me, how much did he have it listed for? And what was your reply... which you edited out?

I remember wanting one of those OJ Wardens, as a USER.
