I have used one for a while and I think it is as much knife as anyone would ever need. There are better bowies/big knives out there like many customs, Busses, And Himalayan Imports khukuris. The Trailmaster is a fine knife with a great steel and I doubt it will ever let you down! It is the stander by which all other "big" knives are judge by but that does not mean it is the best just one of them!;)

I like the traditional Trailmaster with the satin finish and I would not heasatate ever to buy one if you like it!

I have two in my possession right now, and have had as many as six. I have owned all at one point or another. I think they are great. It was the first Big Blade I ever purchased, and I dont regret my decision. If you don't need anything that large, look into the Recon Scout. It is the 7" version with the subdued black blade. Same knife, smaller blade, lower price, equally as good. I have one of those as well. I gave my brother the stainless version cause it is easier to care for and he loves it. It replaced the Ek Bowie I gave him. My father is a great leather crafter, so I gave him my Stag version. It looks awsome with the setup he made for that. If you like the knife and not the handle, there is a guy I found on the forums that does a real good job re-handling I could send you. I am getting ready to send off my soon.

Sorry for rambling.
