I bought a nice big beefy BUCKMASTER a few years back, and I love it....Obviously, it isn't something I carry with me when I go shopping...

My other 'carry' knife used to be a Benchmade 975SBT(love that one too) ...

However, when I go camping, I love the feel of my Buckmaster...the weight and look are awesome...

But now that I have a Combat Talon II and a DA SOCOM on the way, they 'could' replace my Buckmaster seeing as how they are probably much easier to handle....

I guess I could carry all three

But my question to you guys/girls is which do you prefer: Big, bulky and mean or small, sharp and lean??

I can handle most any required task in any given day with a small, sharp, lean knife--this type of knife is more acceptable to be seen using in public, too. With the general attitude toward knives these days, I have to cast my vote for the small to medium sized folder.

For most purposes I prefer small and compact. Currently my choice of daily carry is the CRKT Sampson KISS spearpoint. It's wafer thin, so you forget you are carrying it. In addition, it can fit in that little change pocket of your blue jeans, or hide between your pant waistband and belt. In addition, people are blown away by it when they see it because it is so unique looking.

I occasionally carry a SOG Magnadot with a very thick ka-bar shaped blade. However, it doesn't have a clip so I have to end up wearing it with a pouch. Kinda inconvenient but still a favorite.

A CRKT Crawford/Kasper "Fighting Folder", Large, with "combo-edge", is my "everyday" carry folder, along with it's "smaller" brother in the OTHER front pocket.

When I'm REALLY feelin' frisky, I carry my Large Buck Intrepid II in an IWB sheath!.

I think that balance and ergonomics are key factors in the performance of a knife. The Livesay Air Assault is my first choice for an outdoors blade, medium sized, super design and built to last.

What I prefer for daily use at work is a puuko-style knife I made a couple of years ago.It has a blade that is 2 3/4" and does the job well.Don´t like it big and bulky but lean, sharp and quite small.
