What's your "secondary" knife?

As I was doing a little reflection on what I grab to go to the convenient store or work around the house...I found I usually always grab my sebenza (or Axis or Wegner), one of my multi-tools (and, if around the house a small ~4" FB), and a secondary "weak side" folder. What I usually clip into my left pocket is my Spyderco Military or Native. What I've found to be the most useful is my Military, which is fully serrated.

I guess that brings me up to a question for you other forumites...what's your secondary carry and how many carry a second (or third) folder that's fully or partially serrated?

Me personally, I don't care too much for paritally serrated knives...but I've always found a fully serrated knife can be quite useful...Spyderco's filling this role quite well.

Take care,
Dave

When I carry a second knife it is usually either my Military or Police ( both Spyderco of course ). I also agree about partially serated blades, I much prefer fully serated.

I normally have a partially serrated Native as a secondary. Since the serrations on it are on over 50% of the knife, it functions kind of like a fully serrated blade, albeit a small one (A Native only has a 2.5 inch cutting edge).

Don't you have a secondary blade on that Multitool?

No I don't
Yes I do...

My "secondary" knife is a Spyderco rescue Jr. with stainless handles. One of the sturdiest knives I have EVER owned.

I almost always have my Wave and pink Cricket money clip. Usually carried with BF Native, REKAT CF Cub, M/A Camo SOCOM, Ken Onion Custom, or Millenium Apogee #2. In other pocket SAK Tinker with either a Spyderco CF ladybug, green bone Case two blade folder, Spidie Recruit, or Spydie Harpy. Occasionally another SAK will find its way into a pocket. Every once in a while a REKAT Carnivor or SIFU in whatever pocket will hold it.

If I'm in the woods two fixed blades are added. One usually a custom Damasicus with one of several production or customs. Back at the Jeep is a Bussie Basic 9.

Too many knives???? Who, me?

It's a fine line between "a hobby" and "mental illness".

Ahhh...the always-present multi-tool! You're right Brandon, I think everyone one my multi-tools has at least a partially serrated blade (Kershaw, Swiss Tool, Wave, Crunch, Gerber, Super Tool...). Good point, I guess I just hardly ever use my tool blades (unless it's really abusive work).

The Wave is probably the quickest to access, but I still rely on my Military for a serrated-knife job.

Thanks for the observation

I always carry a plain edge knife in my right pocket (or waistband if I don't have pockets) and suppliment that with a serrated Delica in my left pocket or waistband. If I do have pockets I'll usually add a Ladybug to my left pocket which is combo edge (though I wish Spyderco would offer a plain edge one). For my right pocket I always carry something that is Tip-down and usually it's a Spyderco Police, BM Pinnacle, or BM Ascent 830. However, my secondary knife is ALWAYS the serrated Delica, and the tertiary is the Ladybug. I also carry a multitool (Wave) about 3/4 of the time but never use the blades on it as I always have something easier to grab.

Both my "carry folders" are Stainless
Spyderco's.
(I just LOVE those Spyderco knives!).

.

I carry both an Endura II, and a Native II.

I guess the Native would be my "secondary" knife, as it is the smaller of the two.

I always carry a small Sebenza and a plain edged Spydercard in my wallet.

Secondary knife: Off duty- Spyderco Delica
enough knife to do the job, small enough not to attract attention. Carried in left pocket
with clip removed.
On duty: Spyderco Endura, clipped to left pocket (weapon retention special)

If I am "dressed up" a small kershaw (1" blade, scalpel sharp, also combo cap lifter, file, screwdriver) in stainless w/ nice wood inlay backs up full size calypso.

Well I carry a Pentagon Elite on my left side, a Microtech mini SOCOM on the right, Spydiecard in my wallet, and a balisong in the back pocket.

(knives are subject to change (with my paycheck))

My primary folder is generally a full size something, Wegner, AFCK, or one of several Benchmade Axis locks which is clipped to left hip pocket. Secondary knife is something small to medium size clipped to right front pocket, of in the watch pocket of my jeans. I generally pick the secondary to complement the primary, for example if my big knife has lots of belly and not much tip, I will pick a smaller knife that has a real sharp tip and perhaps little or no belly.

I almost (um, that's "always," not "almost") have at least a secondary and tertiary blade on me. Primary is full size folder on the street (FB in winter), secondary is generally a full size folder, and tertiary is a mini-folder. FB generally is Nimravus Cub or Rinaldi Prototype; folder is generally BM710, BM730, or Spydie Military; mini-folder is either Native, Rookie, or Standard, all in G10. Sometimes the primary fixed is a Cetan (Tanto), also.
