For knife, I chose the Spyderco Police and Delica. For multi-tool, my choice is the SOG PowerLock, and SOG Deluxe Pocket PowerPlier.

SOG all the way

Gerber hasnt been that great since they were bought by fiskars and I am severly unimpressed with Leatherman.

Basically you listed my favorite brand of knives next to ones I wouldnt even consider owning.

My leatherman was free. Oh almost forgot, I love the conveience of my Leatherman Micra. Pretty handy little unit.

Boy, maybe if I could answer this question, I'd stop buying them!:) My lastest purchases were sog powerlock, Sog Pocket powerpliers, and gerber 700 legend. I have models that I like best from these 3 companies. The SOG powerlock, gerber 700, and leatherman Micra orP4 are my choice for large, medium, and small. How's that for diplomacy:D 1 from each company

Leatherman. I prefer the simplicity of the pliers, and don't need the SOGs compound leverage, or whiz-bang factor. Never cared for the Gerbers that much, either. I like the tool selections on the Leathermans, too. They just fit what I need better.
Only thing I asked for for Christmas was a LM Supertool 200.

I've never seen or handled a SOG tool, so I'll vote for...None of the above. My favorite is Victorinox.

Thanks for the insight guys, keep it coming, need it for a market research for something ;) . Can't say specifically, but you guys will know more around the 1st week of January 2003. Thanks again.

I quite like Leatherman. Especially the Wave and new Squirts; useful and tiny. I've had a couple of negative experiences with Gerber stuff and never tried SOG.

Victorinox make great multi-tools too (in the Swiss Army Knife sense). Never tried the Victorinox Swiss Tool.

The original Leatherman Supertool is still the best.

Agreed.., no contest in my opinion.

OK, I will be the lone wolf on this one and say Gerber for the Multi-tool. I carried on for a long time offshore and it held up to VERY rough conditions. I am not to keen on Leatherman either, but plan on buying a SOG soon.

My overall favorite multi-tool, at least for now, is the SOG PowerLock. However, the closest runners-up would be the Leatherman Crunch and the Gerber Legend 800. And I'd hate to be without a Victorinox SwissChamp XLT to complement whatever form of pliers I was carrying. :D

Ok, here's my choices and why.......
Leatherman....
1.) the orginal supertool, robust do it all.
2.) the pulse nice handy tool when ST isn't needed.
3.) the Kf4 juice for sunday and such.
4.) the PST , still handy to have in the car.

Gerber.....
Owned the original hand pincher model. Need I say more?

Sog......
Can't say really. I've never seen or used one in the flesh. They do look robust like Leatherman tho.

Victonox.....
There Swiss tool is a solid failure with me. Their
SAK are all Ok tho.

SOG maybe the best, but they don't make any tools that
looked like they would work for me, So I haven't tryied one.

I love my Leatherman WAVE! but it's not a ultra-heavy-duty tool.

I would never own a Gerber, I've just heard to many bad stories.

(Knife would be a Seb.) :)

Had a Leatherman (not the Super) but a friend broke it. Got a Gerber now. It's alright. I was at Target and the price was right. Just picked up a Leatherman Micra, haven't had a chance to do much with it. I was looking at an orange Juice. It has everything that I actually use and it's not so big that it'll get left behind all the time. Any Juice fans out there?
