Check out the pix of a chopper I got recently from Nick Wheeler. As the "big" in a big/little combo I think this would work well. It is a heckuva chopper! :D The downside being the forging marks would probably gather bits of gunk and the W2 steel, being non-stainless, would require attentiveness. I intend to give this knife a coating of Militec which should help keep corrosion at bay.

What a beautiful knife! This knind of knife is quite popular here and
in Japan, but our handles are much longer, and Japanese knifemakers heat treat them really hard(RC63~65).Flat grond blades with convex
edges and chisel ground are the most popular geometry for this kind of knife,is this knife chisel ground? From picture,It look like a Scandi grind which is quite popular in Japanese traditional cutlery for "bamboocraft".

Hi lsstaipei, The blade is flat ground to the spine on both sides (i.e. not chisel ground) with a convex edge. Do the knives in Taiwan get used double-handed or is the longer handle for some other reason?

Thank you for the answer.Yes,the knives with longer handles can be used with two hands, but I rarely use this technique.I prefer shorter handles. The knives with longer handles look like this:

The blade length and the handle length are almost the same.
