I was dragging my feet in posting this mostly because the process (of posting pictures) is like having teeth pulled for me (if we didn't have modern chemistry). Well, maybe not quite that bad. Lorien's recent post about Nick, about which I wholeheartedly agree, gave me the added kick to move.
All of the good pictures, on the hide, were taken by Paul and used with his permission. The others are me trying to be a bit artsy-fartsy and I apologize in advance for them.
I'm pretty much always thrilled with Nick's work and also Paul's work and usually stumble terribly when trying to describe how their work affects me. So I'll just leave the pictures for you - and you can just imagine me in the background, running around and bouncing off the walls like an excited little kid. Well, maybe a few words.....I look at the combination of Paul's sheath and Nick's bowie and think that they are treasures to be passed down (and to be used, of course). Fit, finish, comfort.... perfection. So thank you Nick, Paul, and Joe for such creations.
Hope you enjoy the pictures. Comments welcome. Mike

Nick's blade is forged from 52100 steel (unless, I've had another lapse in memory), with a stainless guard and pin. Fit and finish are perfect and it feels like it's an extension of one's hand..... light, fast, and well balanced. In a way, it's like my four legged son forever pulling on the leash and wanting to go. This knife wants to move and work. Inspired by Joe's videos, I wanted to try slicing something, anything.... I've been working/playing at cutting hanging rope for all of a week now and thought it would be fun to try with this knife. All the local hardware store had in the way of manila rope was the 3/4" diameter stuff. I figured it would do for the beginner that I am. The first swing created a clean through slice. Pretty thrilling for a novice like myself.

A word about Paul's sheath(s). I sent Paul Nick's knife and one from Murray Carter. The photos of the two knives and sheaths together just seemed to work, so here they are. Nick's bowie is in a fully lined, drop loop style sheath. The mouth and toe chevrons are brown shark. The inlay is lizard skin with additional tooling around it. The sheath Paul made for Murray's knife is also in a fully lined drop loop style, featuring Russet leather. It has a nice chevron overlay with some beautiful basket weave tooling.
