is it ok to go oversize on the wheels? i'm planning on making it a 2x72 grinder but i got some free casters with sealed bearings that are 3" wide, is that fine?

Hey, free is good give them a try. When you work with a 2 inch wheel you either adjust the sandpaper to or over the leading edge of the wheel anyway. It might cause you to do a lot of adjusting to keep moving the paper back and forth across the wheel as you work from either side of the wheel but it sure is worth a try and not have to spend $300 for a 2 inch wheel.

Take the 3" wide wheel to your local machine shop and have them narrow it down to 2" you will be a lot happier,It should not cost too much as it is a pretty simple operation,.:) :)

Good advice:thumbup: I think they should work fine for idler, tracking, or drive purposes.
