One of my favorite bartenders walks 5 blocks through a less than desirable part of town to serve us and she voiced a need for something with a point to make her feel better. 'Old Knife Guy' to the rescue. I actually charged her $10 for the Blackie Collins designed 'Jogging Buddy' so I was just helping her out. We tell her, ' Just call me, you won't have to walk alone' but she's tough. She is about 30 guys 'little sister' so messing with her would land you in a world of hurt. What a 'Doll Baby!'

I'd say something like this:

Better off with a Crawford Devil Dart or a similar stabby implement, one that leaves a real nasty hole and doesn't take much thought when using, just stab, stab, stab...

If she knows how to handle a Busse FBM, she'd be my girl. By the way, the other wench has an ugly tattoo.

I let her play with 'The Precious', Busse SHSH when I was showing it off at the bar, that was when we got into a discussion of the neck knife.

If it really is a rough neighborhood, isn't that itsy bitsy necker just buying a false sense of security?

Typical street hood wearing denim over sports jersey would be amply "armored" against that little blade.

inmop you should have gotten her a decent sized folder.

a spyderco tenacious would have even been better, or something llike large buck bantam or crkt lake laredo.

With a knife that small, surprise would be best on her side. Maybe wear a hoodie with a center pocket. She can grip the knife in hand while in the pocket. So she would be walking out in public with a knife in hand, but not draw any attention. If anyone rushed her from the front/side she could draw the blade and hopefully at least make a cut somewhere sensitive like the face, then run as the attacker was stunned.

That's how it plays out in my head at least. More than likely muggings start with being attacked from behind, or being ambushed by several people rather than one.

Her best course of action would be to get a ride from a friend.

Spyderco waved Endura. My ex-girlfriend carried one for a couple of years working the night shift. She learned how to use it too!

I doubt that she will ever use it in self defense but it makes her feel better. Gotta keep your bartenders happy!
