Sometimes I'll find my self watching a video unboxing of something and the package being unboxed could clearly be opened without a knife but the "unboxer" proceeds to slice and dice up the package, this brings up a question for me. Do you pull out your knife just willy nilly for random tasks that could just as easily be accomplished without a knife? I just want to know if I am the only one who feels a since of restraint or weariness when pulling out my knife.

I guess I just use my knife to cut things that need to be cut? I know you could open a box (shipping tape) with a key or something similar but a knife is the best tool for the job.

I never make a production out of it, I guess there's no need to in my opinion.

If a different tool is required (like a screw driver or pliers) then that's what I use.

Just my two cents worth...

I don't really put much thought into it if my knife is the best tool for the job I use it,

I like my knives and if I am going to spend the money on them then I have no problem getting it out and showing them off for a minor task.

I find that the more I use my knives in front of people that aren't normally around them they seem to warm up to the idea of using or even having one. My mother and my mother in-law both thought I was a bit nuts when I started collecting but since I use them every day without restraint I now have a knife on order for each of them, and they came to me asking for them :) So if you use your knives without restraint then you may just turn someone into one of us.

When I'm in a self defense scenario, and I know I could easily neutralize my opponent with one of my many bare hand techniques, I often will deploy my XL Espada and use that instead.

I also enjoy cutting up pizza boxes.

I've been carrying a knive on my person for 54 years. It's just second nature to get my knife out when something needs to be cut. As my Great Grandfather used to tell me, "You're only half a man without a knife." I've been around knives all my life- My grandfather, great uncle, and my Dad all worked in a slaughter house.

Always cut your sugar packets :)

With a Stockman or such. Doing pointless things with a traditional seems classy, rather than unnecessary.

I try to embrace the right tool for the right job approach, but I will use knives if that is the most accessible and efficient tool.

I always make sure everyone is looking before deploying my Ultra Super Ninja Death Stabber 3000. Then clean my nails, but in a very menacing way... OK, not really... I do tend to look around before using a knife, though, but mostly because I'm in the SF Bay Area, not exactly the knife capitol of the US.

Anyone use their tacticool folder to pick their teeth at the table after a good meal at a restaurant?

If alone I,ll use my spyderco matriarch curved tip perfect for getting right under the edge,
If strangers are around I just use my sog money h2 money clip it,s blade is unbelievably sharp.
If in a hurry I just rip it apart with my teeth, then growl:eek:l at anyone who stares at me.:D
