When are non-BFC transactions appropriate for GBU?

A recent posting in GBU dealt with a transaction that occurred outside of BFC (apparently on another forum). The second party to the transaction was not a member of BFC (at least with the name listed by the GBU poster). The accusations (reflected prominently in the thread title) were quite serious. While I have no reason to doubt the accuracy of the accusations, it concerned me that there was no way to hear the other side of the story (there's nearly always another side). It got me to wondering what the parameters are for posting in GBU on a non-BFC transaction. I realize that many BFC members are members of other knife forums and would appreciate an alert about someone who may be dishonest in their dealings on those other forums. But, as I said, I don't like the idea of a process by which someone can be accused of being a crook and have no opportunity to respond. The question then is this: Is it appropriate to post a thread (good or bad) in GBU on a transaction that not only didn't arise in the BFC Exchange, but is directed at a party who is not a member of BFC?

To the extent that it matters, I'm interested in hearing from other members and from moderators on this.

Thanks

I got it moved HD, no worries.

I feel it is appropriate when the real possibility exists when that "person" from another forum may in fact have an account here, or come here to deal at some point. It serves and should only really serve as a heads up when the deal has turned sour somehow. Items not delivered as described, not delivered at all, etc. I believe that deals that happen elsewhere need to be resolved elsewhere. That is why there is a thread at the top of the GBU with some general guidelines.

That is not a comprehensive list, just something for people to think about BEFORE starting a thread that will get closed and make them look foolish rather than the other person.
