I bought a buck at the flea marked this morning and although it appears to be a 119 in a pouch type sheath there is no pattern number on the knife or the sheath. So I'm curious as to how old this one is?
It's a 6" blade with a fuller on it.

Whoa!!! A *two liner*!!!

Neat find! What'd you spend on it??? :D

Lemme look here...

I get 1968-1970...67 was one line; 71 was three line...

Should be 440C blade, too...

BTW: What's a fuller???

Neat find! What'd you spend on it??? -$30
BTW: What's a fuller??? a.k.a. blood groove

I'm no expert on anything, but I'd guess you spent about half of what it's worth...maybe a third... :)

And yup, it is a 119 Special...

That tang stamp line info is specific for the 119, from the BCCI 119 Model History by Matheny...

I'm not sure if I should be quoting anything from the BCCI site...Any BCCI officials reading this that can offer a ruling, please do...

Thanks TLC and Trax...
I'm sitting here going "DOH!!!!".
In the words of Steve Martin, circa 1975, "I forgot".
Anyway, thanks for the refresher and rhyme...

The line is from an old counting song we sang when choosing sides for baseball, dodge ball, hide & seek, etc...but I can't quite recall the second line...

The Buck Vintage page doesn't go into specifics (for knives other than the 110) before 1986, but the BCCI site does (usually a page or two by Richard Matheny)...

I'm not sure if BCCI (or Matheny) material is considered copyrighted material or not...If it is, I'll go back through my posts and blot out anything in question...anybody know???

LOL...I haven't heard that one in a LONG time. I don't think there is anymore to it, that's the whole thing.

Here's one version I found...but I don't think it's the one we used to say...

Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailor, rich man, poor man, beggarman, thief,
Butcher, baker, candlestick maker, doctor, lawyer, indian chief.

There was a book and TV mini-series of the same name, with Nick Nolte I think...I did read the book, and if I recall correctly, the book had (as a frontispiece), the same little song that I remembered...but I can't recall the second verse...

...A mind is a terrible thing to waste... :(
