when did CRK stop including sheath?

just bought my first CRK in years. It didn't include a sheath, and I thought this was an error.

When I contacted the authorized dealer, they said CRK stopped including the sheath with knife purchase.

When did this start?

Thanks.

The sheath is not included on plane Jane models. CCG’s, Uniques, wood inlays have pocket sheaths included.

gotcha. I got a micarta inlay. so no dice.

still a great knife. I just think the lack of sheath is...well......unsavory

Yeah, unfortunately the micarta inlays doesn’t come with a sheath. I guess they’re too plain o_O.
But the upside is that the micarta inlays are the only type of inlays that CRK will reblast the slabs on.

You can purchase a pocket slip for $30. Micarta and plain models don’t come with a sheath while wood inlays, graphics, and Impindas do. Micarta can be reblasted which is nice to have.

Shoot me a PM with your address, I’ll send you a slip, make this a little more savory for you ;)

Josh....that is very kind of you my friend...but not needed as I have an old CRK slip I can use...the older style, extra soft. I'm not bitter...was just wondering when they made this change and why? I mean, its still a $500 knife....

Only had the knife for a few days but I have to say I am digging the micarta. Always thought micarta made the best material for knives meant to be USED. Great to know they can be reblasted.

Merry Christmas gents!

Honestly I don't remember micarta inlays coming with a slip. And nothing came with a cloth. In terms of improvements knives now come with a microfiber cloth, sticker, lube, and much nicer packaging. I think it's an overall improvement, even if they did take away the leather slip.

Enjoy the micarta. I think it's the best user and recommend it to everyone.

Yes current presentation much better than that cardboard box with hex wrench taped to the lid ;-)

I guess all is a matter of personal preference. I never used the leather slip sheaths on any of my knives, and my favorite box was the simple white box with hex taped to the top. The latter may have to do with my liking the knives of that era, but I still liked the box

I also prefer the old box. Many others as well,CRK was using the old boxes at Blade a few years ago. They said they had a lot of requests for them.
