"Any threat of physical violence against a forum member, made via pm or otherwise, will result in an immediate ban. I mean it."

Spark,

Since when have Mods had the "right" to BAN someone for private comms?

Best Regards,

I don't have a dog in this fight but going to merely make an observation based on a thread which I had created earlier on in this Tech subform: It seems that any reply in a private conversation (PM) can now be reported and/or shared in a thread by checking the little box on the lower left corner of an specific message.

Seems like the most likely situation in which this would happen is where the recipient of such a threat contacts a moderator or administrator about it. No privacy violations at all.

We can't see your pms unless they are reported..just an fyi

The quote "Threat....pm or otherwise"?

Could be an e-mail perhaps?

What qualifies as a threat?

The statement is ambiguous. I have nearly come to blows with folks from the community at shows.....sometimes passions run high. It got worked out, either by just agreeing to stay out of eachother's interactions, or by having an ADULT beverage and talking it out, no interference required.

It's definitely a mark of what kind of man/woman you are if you are running to a mod because you can't handle your business.

Stalking and unwanted/inappropriate sexual comments notwithstanding, this just seems overarching.

Whatever. Thanks for the clarification, fellas.

Is this thread about the privacy of a pm or the ability for members to threaten each other with violence? I think it should be obvious why threatening other members with violence is not allowed and it would seem your other concern has been addressed.

The solution is simple, don't threaten people. Rules aside, threatening someone with violence over an internet disagreement is so, so far beyond childish and shows a complete lack of class, intelligence and social skills. There's really no excuse for it ever.

1. I wasn't the one threatening. I think I did at one point, but it was a fairly long time ago, and I can't really remember.

2. I have been threatened on BFC in PM's in the past, and simply dealt with it.....didn't feel the need to run to "Big Brother"...that's just me.....one "guy" threatened to shoot me.....didn't take it seriously....he got banned for losing his mind and telling everyone to "eff" off and that was the last I have heard of him.

3. Crap happens. I called a maker out on shoddy workmanship, and he didn't take it well. It damaged his business. I felt that I was ultimately wrong and apologized to him. Nobody is perfect.

If you don't mind it, fine, that doesn't make it okay. There is no excuse for that type of behavior ever. Anyone who resorts to threats of violence over anything that happens on these forums is an emotionally immature coward and is toxic to the community. They have absolutely no room to complain if someone reports them.

My initial question was answered. Thank you all.
