When Did Queen First Use D2?

For at least a decade Queen has used D2 tool steel in it's premium line of knives. This followed a long time frame when their knives just said "Queen Steel" on them, and may have been either 420HC or 440C from time to time.

Does anyone know when Queen first used D2 tool steel? I've searched, but cannot find an answer. Thanks for your replies.

After posting this thread, I continued to search and almost immediately found a page on the history of Queen which said they went to D2 in 2002. It seemed to be an authoritative article, but any other info is appreciated.
