When did serrations change?

I'm getting a '98 Raven. This got me thinking about how I don't really like the new dragon's teeth/double-action serration pattern. When did they switch over to the new style serrations? Just like to know for future buying sprees:) !!!! thanks, Leo G.

Maybe you can enlighten some of us, there was a different style of serrations?

If you go to Emerson's website, there is a picture of an original Raven with the old style serrations. It is under "Archives"/"Miscellaneous" on Emerson's announcement of his new company at the bottom of the page. The serrations were much more scalloped and had fewer teeth. I really hate the new serrations but think I can live with the old style. I had a CQC 7A with the new serrations and they tended to just bind in whatever I was cutting, so I traded it for a B with a plain edge. I also have a Mini A and a Commander with the plain edge.

If anyone knows when they changed or why please help us out.

Thanks, Leo G.

Can't one of the Usual Suspects help us out here? I'm thinking of getting another Raven, but don't want those dragon's teeth:barf: Thanks, Leo Gilbert:confused:

I checked out the Raven pic on the site, I do believe the serrations are different, but it could just be the picture. I have 3 Emersons with the Dragons teeth serration (SOCFK 2000, Commander 99, and CQC-7 Wave 01) I have not noticed any "binding" and I do cut a lot of rope with the CQC-7, the Raven appears to have the same serration pattern but lacks the three middle teeth portion. The serrations are great on wet rope (every try cutting wet rope with a regular edge?) Trust me serrations speed the job. I do seem to remember seeing a Commander with the same serration pattern as the older Raven pic you mention but it was a really early ESC-1 Model

I received my Raven today (thanks Dave!). It does not have serrations like that picture I (mistakenly) sent you to. It does have very shallow, small serrations though. Very different from the dragon's teeth. WHEN DID THEY CHANGE OVER? I know you guys know and are keeping me in the dark;) . Is it because I don't know the "secret handshake"? I would like to know the answer to this question for future purchases, so I don't have to drive the seller nuts (are you reading this Dave) when asking about the serration pattern. Thanks again, Leo G.
