When did the 277 Folding Alpha Hunter blade steel change from 154CM?

When did Buck stop using 154CM steel on their 277 Folding Alpha Hunter? I haven't followed Buck in a while and while trying to figure out the name/model of another Buck knife today I saw that they're now using 12C27Mod Sandvik.
I'm not complaining as I've NEVER had any problems with any of my Buck knives......just curious when they made the change.

The catalog shows that they were still using 154CM in 2009 and changed to 12C27M in 2010.

Could be, the ones with ATS34 were last listed in the 2005 catalog, so they have been gone for six years.

Sarah, started collecting the 277 in 2004. But she has yet to get one w/ that steel. So, I'll look for a 2010 model. Thanks, DM

Just checked the box of my Folding Alpha Hunter (w/154CM) and it's dated 05/01/06.

I don't know about you guys but I've never had a problem with my cheaper Alpha Hunter with 420HC that has seen a ton of use. The Folding Alpha Hunter with 154CM I've kept in the box or sitting out but haven't used it to cut anything.....yet another knife that one of my son's will end up owning some day.<grin>

+1:thumbup: 420hc is a great no hassle easy blade steel. I like the 277 because of the wood scales more than the 154cm
