When did the CS stop offering Damascus?

I'd like some help pinning down the age of this knife a little bit. It has the "Designers Choice" marking on the back side of the blade and "Buck (old script)/custom/ U.S.A." stamp on the front side. The frame is fully radiused NS so it has to be '83 or newer, right? I'm trying to find out when the Damascus option was discontinued so I have an idea of the date range I'm looking at. Perhaps the style of the COA will help so I included a scan of it also. Does it look like Sambar or Elk?

Thats a fairly new 110,the designers choice stamp wasn't on the blade of any knives at the old custom shop,I had one if the first "Pete's Custom Knife Shop"110's made,they just had the regular year marks on them.I would guess thats from 2005/06 or newer.Myn last damascus from 2006 was marked exactly like that.

Thanks for the info. I knew it wasn't very old, but I had no idea when Buck stopped offering the damascus blade.

I'm not exactly sure either,but the last couple of customs i had made with the damascus were leftover blades from a long time ago,they were marked 110x so that made the blades vintage at least.

One side looks like elk, the other sambar. You better send it here You don't want that in your collection (LOL)

Think I recognize that specific knife

If memory serves, I ordered it from the Custom shop in 2004-ish and specified stag handles.



Edit--FWIW, it may have even been a year or 3 before that, but I'm positive it was pre-2006.

Also, If you contact Joe, it might help to tell him I ordered 2 stag/Nickel silver CS 110s at the same time. That knife was part of the order (the other was in bg42 w finger grooves.)
