Just curious. When did Emerson change the pivot pins on the CQC7's from the domed pin to the flat ones? On early models, 3 holes are drilled on the pivot end of the handle so you could mount the clip on either side, but with the rounded pin, you can't attach the clip for tip down carry?

Hi Javier,

You answered your own question, that's exactly why they made the switch to the flathead pivot screw.

As I understand it, all the new EKI knives now have a flathead pivot screw. This was probably done as a way to reduce cost by stocking only one type of pivot screw instead of two.

I like the domed ones myself, but I can't really say a flat one affects performance at all, it's just a matter of taste.

Thanks Ken. You're right, it doesn,'t affect the knife's use anyway. My CQC-7 is a 2000 model, but I was curious to know if it was changed in 2000? or was it 2001? I like tip up carry , but I know some folks prefer tip down, but complained that you could not reverse the pocket clip on the early CQC-7's.

My 2000 7b (waved) is serial number 093 and has the flat screw. I believe all the waved 7s were made with the flat screw and I assume that the non-waved versions were changed at the same time.
