When did the g10 change?

I just noticed the g10 on my SWATmandu has a different black/tan than the other two and my NMFB. All the others have a 1/1 of b/t but the SWATmandu has what looks like 2 or 3 /1 of tan to black. Other than driving my OCD crazy it's not a problem.
Are you guys experimenting with different g10?
Am I any closer to you letting me send them in to get re-handled in purple / black g10:D
Just curious.

Don't know about your main question but I wish there was purple/black G10. At least purple liners. That way I'd be more likely to talk my wife and daughter into new knives.

Busse says they make their own G10, so it doesn't surprise me that they've changed it up a little. I, for one, like the current batch of tan/black and red/black with more color.

PS - it might also have to do with what handle pattern and machining is being done.

IMHO, the Black and Tan looked better years back, when it was available on the CG FBM.

Wow! That's really dark. Does look like micarta. I'll post a pic tomorrow if anyone cares to see the difference.

Yeah, that was the last time B&T was dark like that.

When/where did the Busse shop say that they made there own G10?

I've been told personally by both Lexi and Garth, and it's been mentioned here on the forum several times. Ask them in person tomorrow for confirmation.

Thanks, I will ask, not for confirmation, but because I am curious on the chemistry and the resins they are using.

Any more info RG? I wonder if you got any further in person than I did via written correspondence?

Garth said that they were still in a learning mode, making small sheets of material. It is not full production of all their G10 demand.

I'm going to guess and say no two batches are going to be alike. They may have had a large supply one batch that was heavy on the black side, but now maybe a new chunk of it favors the tan side. Of course it will depend on other things like size and shape of the handle, and machining tolerances.

Hey sorry guys. Got side tracked so no pics yet.
I have three knives with a significant time difference so they have kept it the same for some time.
How they make the g10 has absolutely nothing to do with how they shape it. 2x1 and 1x1 are exactly the same to a machine. ( Other factors aside, I mean the color has no affect on any aspect of production)
SWATmandu cut some tomatoes, cheese, and pickles for dinner tonight.
Without them next to each other it's hard to notice.
Got sidetracked but I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

Just a hair thicker on the tan of the swatmandu. The NMFBM has the same as the other two.
