Reservations are full. We will do some weeding and confirming on Monday.

As for payment estimate. You are going to see manufacturing prototypes in September. You will not only see the finished prototype but be kept abreast of the manufacturing process. In my opinion you are going to know more about this knife than you know about your spouse )

After the prototype has been approved by Jeff, Mike and myself and fully reviewed here and by customers. We will then send request for payments. Those that fall by the wayside will find their spots quickly taken so it is not our goal to force you to buy this knife. We know there are enough people to appreciate a short run, high end folder.

Once we are absolutely happy with the production prototypes and LionSteel is ready to roll we will notify you that we are ready for payment.

The limited edition first run knives are all being made to order so we expect to have the custom orders by early December. And please keep in mind none of these knives are leaving our hands until they are inspected, accompanied with a signed certificate and warrantied for life.

just to repeat. You have a reservation on a Limited Edition, First Run knife. We are not going to offer or make more than 250 of the Mr DP pattern or Sterile. It is going to be made to your specifications and will have a signed certificate made out to you.

You are locked in at the pre-agreed price but we have no problem if someone gets cold feet or wants out. We already have a waiting list for this knife and for December we are only making as many knives as the dealers have pre-ordered. I don't think you can get a fairer deal than that.

There will be regular run knives at the dealers around the same time but they will not be made to order or have Black G10, or offered in MR DP patterns or in sterile. They will be every bit as good but not that magical first run, all the extras version. The blade is coated on the limited edition version. We reserve the right to add goodies to the regular run as well

Hope that helps.

"You are locked in at the pre-agreed price". Perhaps I missed it, but what is the pre-agreed price? I would be happy to pay the MSRP, but less money for the HEST/F means more money for other ESEE's. I want a Junglas!

the limited edition price was 249.00 the regular folder is going for around 179 depends on the dealer.

umm.. i thought the LEs were "the same price" as the production run stuff.... but obviously some vendors have discounting.

but IIRC it was "sub $200" as in $199.95 or thereabouts.

Well, every thread I have seen so far has been pretty clear on pricing. The suggested retail on the regular run was $252.31, but the actual street pricing is well under $200. The LE run was priced at $249, no discounts. Those of us who reserved LE units agreed to pay $249 each, and we get some special extras along with our knife. See this thread, if you missed out on the LE sale info: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=763073

i got a confirmation for my limited knife with my number. But I have yet to receive an email to pay for my knife. I would feel better that I will get my limited edition once I pay for it. Has anyone that ordered a limited edition hest pay for there's yet???

We are all in the same boat here is the answer again Draftpick....We will then send request for payments..............Reservations are full. We will do some weeding and confirming on Monday.

Even with the info it still doesn't clear up when payment might be expected. Does it mean somewhere around September or closer to the expected date of December ?
Knifeworks did it best for their Spyderco Limited Edition Military, require $20 deposit, when it's ready to ship, pay the balance, get knife.
They were saying the knife was expected in July, around that time Spyderco came out and said it was delayed indefinitely due to a problem with a subcontractor. I sure am glad I didn't have over $200 wrapped up in a indefinitely delayed knife. (Hint Hint).
I know I don't have to buy the knife, I want it, I just don't want/can't shell out $250 2 months before it is "expected" to show up.

I dont think RYP could be more clearer

He's very clear about the process not a timeline. Like I said in my original post does this mean I can expect an email in late September requesting payment or much closer to the actual ship whether that's December or March or ? All that I know is when I ordered it said something about them requesting payment when it's ready to ship or something close to that. I wish I would have saved it so I could quote it.

From what it says, it means that after the prototypes are received by them and OK'd.. you will receive a request to pay.
So, expect to pay.... pre production..... not just right before they are delivered.

I wish you would have "saved" that too, I never read that. Do you remember where you read it???

I never read it either, and I think I read every word here and over at BF cafe that ever came out on it I bet.

It HAS to be prepaid before they are made, guys - or else how could you CHOOSE left/right, sterile, graphics, etc...
that's the custom part. Like ordering a custom gun or holster, sometimes you pay months or years in advance.

Sure, I'm anxious to pay, but only to get it done -
as I'm doing to be gone for a few trips this fall into the woods.

I was pretty sure during the preorder on dpxgear.com it said payment would be due approx 30days before ship date.
