When Do you Post?

How are all you guys posting? I mean, what times? What time have you allotted yourself to sit in front of the PC and post and read forum topics?

I have a mechanical job in a printing company. This is the only company I have worked that actually encourages me to relax when the machines are running good, and there are no breakdowns to fix. I'll have like two weeks of doing nothing except web-browsing and forum posting, and then a week of bust-my-ass work. It ebbs and flows. But on normal days, I like to sit with my PC and have a cup of coffee and read posts.

What are all your forum habits? I notice some of you are quick to respond to posts like me, so you obviously are close to your PCs.

My job is such that I will have a lot of free time(ok, so I could busier), but then the bosses will come over and want something right away. When they come over, it's usually something past due, and I will really have to bust my chops. Other than that, I have no complaints, and I will be posting all day long.

Hi Jeff,

I'm doing this full time now, god it's good to be away from the academic environment for a while! I have a computer in the shop on my finishing desk, I've got a cable modem so I'm always logged on. I find myself scanning the forums throughout the day whenever I take a break...but I do most of my reading in the mornings over morning coffee. :)

Stop it, Darren! You are making me green with envy! I'll be full-time soon enough though. Maybe next year. I figure soon as my son's college loan is paid I can call in to work well. Yepper, I'll just call in and say, "WELL... I guess I won't be in today!"

Don't be too envious Jeff! :) I am more poor right now than I have ever been in my entire life! ...but we're keeping the lights turned on and food on the table... Fortunately, I have a great wife, who wants me to do work that makes me happy, and this work makes me happier than anything I've ever done...if it weren't for my great wife, I'd still be working out at the lab. now, if she can just hurry up and finish her ph.d. work and get a real job, we'll be a little more comfortable, but life is good now anyway. :)

I check them all day long because I'm at work and get bored. There is so much to learn, I'm addicted.

Hey Darren, my philosophy is that its better to be poor and happy than wealthy and miserable. I still envy anyone making it on their own, and my hats off you to all who do!

Amen brother, I couldn't agree with you more! Being exposed to the knifemaking community has changed my opinions and perceptions of life in so many ways... I may not have money to spend willy nilly anymore (not that I ever did), but I am certainly much happier now than in a high pressure research environment....and I love this work, it's satisfying on so many levels! :)

I'd be better off if I through the puter out the door for 5-6 hours a day

I have a puter out here in the shop and one in the house.
most of my knife business is
from on line and I'm getting out of my small engine,
marine and logging supply business,
and just picking what I want to do in it while down grading.
I'll post from 6:00 in the morning to
as late as 10:00PM I got the wife through her BS a few years ago,
and she's working on her Masters while working as a 3rd grade Teacher
after 26 years married
she also wanted me to do
what I like to do. and you know what that is..
:D I'm not going to get rich doing this but I may live longer
 well if I use my respirator anyway :)

I used to be able to post from work, until a couple days ago. They must have beefed up their filters. Everytime I try to access this site, I get the forbidden page.

I guess now it will only be from 6:00pm to 11:00pm.

I can still get on other forums, so it doesn't make much sense.

I could tell you, but then I would have to kill you. On second thought, after hearing about this job of yours, I might kill you anyway.:)

well it's 5: in the morning right now.:D

I see my date time thingie is off..:) no body else is around :(

I usually get a few minutes in before I go to work or when I get home from work. But this is always taking away from shop time! So I don't come by here as much as I'd like.

I work nights, so I am on here in the mornings and after midnight. I don't work weekends on my "day Job", so this gives me more time, too. Working 4 10 hr. shifts, Mon.-Thurs. has it's advantages. I have pretty well given up my licensed PI work, not enough hours in the day, and that work is usually pretty lousy hours, too. And then when I have to go to court, that really throws crap into the mix. I would rather be in the shop, anyhow. KNIVES RULE!
