I want to hear about specific things or jobs you have done, which have caused you to really worry "Will this break my knife?". I am not talking about abuse-tests, but times when you needed to get something done and you did not want to break your knife. ...and? Did it break?

Using my Benchmade Griptilian in place of a hose fitting wrench - blade was opened and put into the fitting, spin-down. I pulled on the grip to unscrew the fitting, putting torque through the whole knife and pivot. The fitting turned and the knife was fine.

Batonning 5-6" diameter hardwood in 10 degree F temps with my BK7. I really had to pound it through some knots where the blade didn't move with several heavy hits from the baton log. I expected chipping, but I needed wood for a fire. The blade held up.

Digging baler twine out of frozen bales with a Cold Steel Hold Out 1 (and the OLFA can't penetrate ice at all). The six inch blade on that knife has a distal taper full flat grind, beautiful for cutting, but digging in frozen fibrous material is not something it should do regularly. The 5.5" 2011 Voyager did that job quite nicely, though a fixed blade undoubtedly would be best.

Before I was into knives I treated any knife as a screwdriver. Some bent, some chipped, and some survived.

Using my small Sebenza's spine to tighten down a screw in my dad's car, I was not happy to do it but had to be done otherwise we'd been stuck on the street.
Small bend and scratches, was easily fixed. I was happy.

I really dont like to abuse my knives when i dont have to. Im really particular about protecting the tip and one time a friend wanted to borrow my knife to punch a hole in the top of his coors can. I knew it wouldnt break but i was still cringing.

Not so much if it will break the knife but more how much will the edge be hurt. I have been known to grab an older user for yard work one that I don't have to keep as perfect. Also zip ties. I have one specific knife for zip ties.
