When is the CRKT/Kit Carson M4 coming out?

I was just reading Blade Magazine at Borders today and they had a little blurb about the new CRKT/Carson M4, the production model of the Carson F4 neck knife. I totally love it, but missed when they said it would come out. I haven't been able to find anything about it on the web, either. Thanks!

The sheath has not been finalized yet. The Knife is ready and looks great. The sheath is not traditional in the CRKT style. It is unique in the way the clip is applied. Of course, I know you will have plenty in stock when they hit the distributors shelves. I am sure that you already placed an advance order with the distributor.
 
At $24.95 <b>retail</b>, the CRKT F4 should be a hot item. Looks exactly like my custom F4. When I was at the Blade Show, I brought my F4 to the CRKT booth and for the heck of it, tried to fit the custom inside the production sheath. Guess what? Perfect fit! I am definitely going to get a production version when they are out.
 
Yep.......I have plenty on order for these. For $24.95 Retail they are going to be hard to beat, which means in reality they will probably sell for about $19.50 probably online. CRKT has lots of neat stuff coming out for us :)

Travis - for starters, another Kit Carson flipper folder - production version of his M18A1. Blade shape is a drop point with recurve. Aluminum handles will not have holes a la M16, but will feature inlays or either red or blue micarta.

Then there is another Jim Hammond design (Someone help me out here - forgot the name :o) that is basically a G-10 handle version of his Navajo design.

There is also an aluminum handled version of the KFF in the works too.

Yes indeed, lotsa good stuff :)

man,there is some really kick ass stuff coming out soon, and not just from crkt. all the major manufacturers have a lot in store for us.

The new models are a Carson M18, Carson F4 neck knife, The Skeeter, name isn't finalized yet, the Contrail and Crawford/Kasper Professional Model.
The small M18s are MSRP: $99.99 and $109.99 for the large
The F4 Carson is MSRP: $24.99
The Skeeter is MSRP: $24.99
The Contrail is MSRP: $69.99 for the small and $74.99 for the large
The Crawford/Kasper Professional Model is MSRP: $89.99 Small and $99.99 Large
The Carson M18 is available in Red, Blue and Black. The Crawford/Kasper is only 6 oz for the large, which is much lighter than the Zytel model. You will like them when you get your hands on them. I hope that helps.

Yes indeed, an F4 copy for $20.00 will be a definite "must have". I too have a Carson family small F4 in S90V and it's my favorite neck knife ever. Dex or anyone, do you know if CRK&T has a Carson model #4 or #21 folder in the works? I picked up one of their large KFF wannabe's and it is a great piece. Somewhat heavy but VERY impressive, ESPECIALLY for the price!
 
If there is another Carson, It wasn't shown to me. The hunting knife line will be redone along with several new projects for next year. There are so many new models due out this fall that I won't let the cat out the bag for next year.
The real sleeper for this fall is the Contrail. It is basically a Navajo in G10 but it looks and feels much better. This knife is very light, 1.1 oz in the small and 1.8 oz for the large. There is also a red and green prototype model. The colors are really slick. A major change from the tactical black we are all used to.

All I have coming out with them is the F4 Neck knife and the Model 18 flipper, large and small, at this time.
All of them are getting real close. I'd like to think less than a month :)

Wow, I can't wait till September! I saw an F4 once and loved it, but knew I could never get one. I love custom/production collaborations!

copfish: The article in Blade said that the steel would be AUS-6M, beadblasted.

Gene - CRKT cannot do the Model 4 because Outdoor Edge/Edge Tech already has their version - the Magna.

Steel for the CRKT F4 is AUS-6M
 
Thanks Dex, Kit and Avenger. It's REALLY nice to be able to have copies of your favorite customs! :)
 
Do these new CRKTs look like the real custom versions or do they look a little different? How close are they to the original designs?
