I keep seeing all you guys getting new Khuks and trying them out. I keep seeing other guys reposting old reviews to help answer new questions. And I keep coming back for the exquisite torture of vicarious Khukuri enjoyment because I cannot swing a khuk right now! New or old, perfect or blem, wood or horn- I can't do it!
Why, you may ask? What horrible circumstance could befall someone that would prevent the fundamental pleasure of hacking away with some Himalayan Steel?
BEHOLD:
I had surgery to remove cysts from (oddly enough) the middle finger of both of my hands last month. The stitches were supposed to come out after 8 days. They were in for 13 days. I was supposed to return to work after 10 days. I was out for 15. When the stitches did come out, my fingers swelled up like bratwursts on a barbeque. The swelling is finally abating, but I still don't have full range of motion. I also don't have my callouses anymore, and the skin at the inscision sites is still tight, thin and tender.
Waah.
Oh, well. Pity party over. I'm actually doing OK, and I am optimistic that, with those cysts out of the way, my future chopping pleasure will be better than ever.

Can any empathize? Have you had an injury that impeded your knifely pursuits? Please share stories, and pics if you've got 'em.
