When should someone be forced into becoming a dealer?

If 2100+ of your 3800 posts are directly related to selling and trading knives, doesn't that make you a dealer?

If 55% of your time on here is you doing business, shouldn't you be a dealer?

I was reading the exchange rules last night and I believe that a dealer was defined as someone who buys knives from the manufacturer (or a wholesaler) with the express intention of resale. Something like that. While yes some members might spend the majority of their time in the exchange, I don't see why they should require a dealers membership to do so.

So what happens when a member has a dealer friend order things for him from a wholesaler with the express intention of resale?

So theoretically, if I was good friends with Knifeworks, I could have them order stuff for me to sell on the forums from Blue Ridge and not be a dealer?

Many people here buy to try. They pick up new knives, new models to play with, clean them up, sell them as used. They are not dealers.

Some people buy new or in demand knives to flip for an obvious profit. If this is their Bladeforums presence, we will see them as dealers. Then it is buy or goodbye.

We do have many in the middle. They are not dealers either. Making a profit is not a violation. If the price isn't right, the buyer can walk away.

So for example... someone has a friend who's a brick and mortar dealer. He has them order him 6 limited edition knives that they normally would never order so he can post them here for sale for a profit.

Just a reminder that 50%+ of their presence is selling.

I'm just trying to figure out where the line is.

Who are they?
