When should we see BM42 interchangeable blades?

I cant wait till they finally come out with some new blade designs for the 42. to quote www.benchmade.com, "the Wee-hawk style blade is secured to the handles with screw-head pivot-pins, making the possibility of changing out blades a reality (Benchmade plans to make optional blade styles available in the future)"

so does anyone here have any idea when "The future" is?

We're still trying to figure out an economical/easy way to remove the damn pivot pins without tearing them or the knife up. Benchmade doesn't seem to want to mess with the disassembly so IMHO it'll be waaay down the road a piece......

The ability to change out blades is only planned if you broke your blade somehow, not just to change the blade for the sake of changing your blade.

I wouldn't hold your breath cause its gonna be a while.

My guess is that BM will bring out interchangeable blades when GM brings out a car with interchangeable engines.

Running late today? Slap in the twin-turbo. Wallet a little thin and the pumps a little high? Swap out that gas-guzzler for the little three-banger. In a particularly environmental mood lately? Try out the electric power plant.

It makes about as much sense.

Other knife makers have tried interchangable blades in other designs and they've met with poor reviews and equally poor sales.

Think W!

IMAGINE...there's a tall gentleman (reddish tint) Holding a pitch fork and appears to be VERY VERY cold.

But I hope we see them soon also!

I spoke to the lady at the NY knife show and she said that so far they are only looking to produce one other blade style and that was...oh, cr@p...I think she said it was a bowie, but don't hold me to it because for somereason, I can't quite remember. Anyway, she said something about January. I don't know if she mean they will come up with drawings and specs in Jan. or what. Either way, I'm not sure how much she really knew about what was going on at the factory, but I figured I'd share what I heard with you guys(and girls).

Hey, thats cool. Jan is not too far away...us bali fans have been accustomed to waiting.

I'd love to see a bowie blade, but then again, I'd be happy with anything but another weehawk.

Thanks

That's right Dave. With not much of a choice i bought for myself another BM42. Serrated blade this time from Josh at knifezilla.

Thanks for the information Steve. Gotta save up then for that bowie balisong come January. If it doesn't come, then i have to choose again from a widerange of BM42s.
