I'm about to work with some Wroght Iron for guards and would like to etch them. I might be putting it on some W1 which may also be etched.

Do I etch the pieces separetly and put them together or solder them up and them etch them all at once?

About the etchant solution, I am going to buy some PCB from Radio Shack and I saw one suggestion was to mix it 50/50 with white vinegar. Do most of you just use water, and at what ratio?

When it comes time to neutralize the solution, do you use baking soda/water mixture?

I etch seperatly and then solder, but you have to be carefull not to over heat or you are back to zero.

Radio Shack now has ferric chloride in stock, I use about a 1:4 solution. Its also included in their small kits but thats and expensive way to get very little solution.

Soak well in the baking soda and water solution, cover blade to insure no corrosion
