When to perform knife maintenance.

I have a largish knife collection, 100+ knives. Sometimes it's hard to know when your knife needs maintenance. For instance, my Yuna has recently developed some side to side play. I found it difficult to use the flipper to deploy they blade without wrist flick. So I broke it down, cleaned all the parts, lubed with nano oil and reassembled. The results have been amazing. No more blade play, no more wrist flick just silky smoothness. So how do you know when to perform maintenance on your knives?

A knife will tell you when it needs maintenance. We must just learn how to "listen".
