When to replace sharpmaker triangles?

Question for all you pros out there:

How do you know when your Spyderco Sharpmaker triangles, particularly the medium grit ones, need to be replaced? I have recently started using a new Sharpmaker and as I have ground pretty hard on the corners I have noticed that I have worn away quite a bit of the hone material so that rather than being a rounded corner, it is a narrow, flat plane.

Are the triangles homogeneous throughout, or will I eventually wear through the sharpening material and come to a non-sharpening center?

I've sure loved looking and learning on this forum. Knives--what a great hobby!

I think they are homogenous. I have worn the edges of my grey "stones" quite a bit in the five plus years I have used mine. Still sharpens all my knives and then some.

First, you don't need to use that much pressure. Don'tworry about the rounding unless you sharpen serrations and recuves a lot (It might not fully sharpen serrations and may flatten recurves a little)
