When using the work sharp. Should the blade be straight up and down or leaned against

So I drop my knife blade into the guide on the worksharp. There is a guide on each side of the belt. When I put the blade in the guide and pull the blade back it there is decent room to wiggle. Should I keep the blade standing as straight as I can or let it lean against the side of the v guide. I think it should lean against the wall inside the v, opposite the belt. So it leans against the wall furthest away from the belt and that is what provides the angle. Is that right?

You can actually do it either way, but you're correct... leaning it against the guide, you'll be sharpening at the stated angle.

Touch the guide with the side of the blade. That will maintain a consistent angle, that's within a few degrees of the stated angle. As usual, I'll take the opportunity to say that I never use the guide with the WSKO at all. I think it works better without it.

Brian.
