When was the heyday of Case manufacture quality?

I'd say the 60's
Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with the knives theyu make now. But, I think they made them the best back then

I have noticed that on my older Case knives, the jig patters is just wonderful! The new knives seem to have shallower and less coverage jigging. Case should look go back to that style of jigging then their current knives would be fantastic!

I would say long ago and currently with the Case/Bose line. Forget the cost. The machinery used, materials and results are impressive imo.

That good quality goes back to the 1920s IMO.
Case Tested, and Case XX marked knives, ca.1920 to ca. 1960.

Of course the Case/Bose collaborations are in that bracket also.

I think the 60s through most of the 70s. They made knives for work, and nothing much too fancy. They were strong knives that were well made and that is why there are so many well used knives that still have a lot of life left in them around today.

I think Kevin (richstag) is right about the TB collabs, too. One of my knife connections told me that the reason those knives came out well along with a few other patterns was because CASE had to finally break down and make some new punches and dies. Having toured the factory many years ago and he told me (take it for what it is worth) that some of the old punching tools were from the 50s, some earlier, and they proudly told him the had used the same ones to punch out some blade patterns and liners since then.

Made sense to me. New tooling means better punch outs with less need for hand fitting and correction.

I would say the tested era but also the 70's...Back then Knives were meant to be used so they were tough,Now it seems like case is more for the collector which is fine.i would say Case /bose are the best right now. What i find interesting which I seen it on another forum is the blades have gotten thinner from tested to now you cant hardly tell by the naked eye but if you put a micrometer on it you can tell big time.

That sums it up for my thoughts.

My thinking exactly. The Case Bose line blows the rest of their lines out of the water. Even the CV and SS models, not just the annual collaborations.
