When was the last time you bought a knife that made your jaw hit the floor?

I just got this today in the mail from Chuck Gedraitis. I opened the box and was instantly reminded why I buy custom knives in the first place.
The blade (2 3/8") & the bolsters are both 1095 with harmon. It has deep blue ano liners and greenish mammoth scales. Fit and finish is masterfully done.

I had to show someone. Now lets see the knife that puts you in awe every time you hold it!!!

Hi popopine -

Now that is a real beauty!

If money was no object, I would have one of everything!

To answer your question, the last time I bought a knife that made my jaw drop was when I bought a stag handled Damascus off of ebay, obviously made in Pakistan or elsewhere, for $23 USD, and was actually happy with the knife.

Here is a pic of my $23 stag handled Damascus knife.

Mind you , I know this is not the quality that I would get from a maker here in the states, I just was impressed that I could get this for THAT!

I have a few on order from USA makers, and I will be doing some jaw-dropping when those start coming in I am sure.

Thanks for the pics of your fine blade!

best regards -

I hate top say this, but I bought a Chinese made NAVY folder off ebay about 2 months ago and rec. it this wk. I'll post a pic if I think of it later today. I paid 4.96 with free shipping. This knife is so well made it's scary. I mean about as perfectly machined and put together as you could imagine. Heavy s.s. bolsters, 440c blade at 3.5", thick s.s. liner lock, nicely fitted handle slabs, and perfectly done s.s. bolsters, and the blade is expertly ground and finished and razor sharp with excellent lock up. Passes my spine hit test with ease. Just kind of bums me out though you can get something of this quality for such a little amount of money. But that is a different topic altogether. keepem sharp

Never sadly.
I did like my orange military A LOT though, I regret getting rid of it.

First Busse I bought, a NMSFNO. Much better than I expected.

Finally received this in the mail yesterday:

Really quite awesome. Unlike any other folder I've ever held or even seen.

Damn popopine, that's a beauty.

The first time I picked up my Bark River Golok and gave it a swing I got a huge smile on my face. It's a true workhorse in the yard and my most used knife. I think I'll go get a flashlight and chop something with it now. :)

My cat doesn't like it nearly as much as I do. Crappy pic, sorry.

Don't know, but I was drooling on my shoes while looking at a Case display yesterday

Philwar what is that? Very cool and different.
That's the Extrema Ratio RAO. ER is an Italian manufacturer of knives and other gear. The RAO is a folder designed for an Italian special reconnaissance unit. It is believed by many to be the toughest folder in existence, it certainly ranks in the top 5.
It has a unique additional locking feature, adding to an already very sturdy lock. This extra lock makes the knife approach fixed blade strength.
The frame is one solid piece of aluminium. It's all just tough, tough and more tough. :D
Blade steel is N690CO, and it's 6mm thick... (almost .25")

The only knife that made my "jaw hit the floor" was my first Sebenza. Before then,I'd never had anything of such quality.

GPKNIVES had a quick sale on the Benchmade Nagara. 100$ knife, normally about $70, on sale for $38 so I thought what the heck.

I got it yesterday and am thoroughly impressed. Just...can't...stop...looking...at...it...
