When were these sheaths made?

I'm hoping someone can give me an idea of when these sheaths were made. I just picked up two of them unused and in the clam packs.

Dave,

These were early to mid-80s manufacture. I found them in the 1982 Catalog. Btw, the 110 sheath was listed for $19 at that time.

I was also just looking at them. I have a 120 with a Buck custom sheath that is also heavy leather.

 Thanks, I found them with your help. I already had one that is for the 701 and the leather is really THICK! It sort of overwhelms the smaller knife and I hope these are a little more in proportion to the 110 or 111.

A picture of one in use would satisfy me. I also hope the thick leather doesn't overwhelm the size of the 110.

Me too. I never carry the 701 in that sheath just because of that. I'll see how the 110's fit and post pictures soon.

ed,Nice post.I have seen one of those heavy Buck sheaths and it was with a 120 as well.
Looked just like yours. It was a special issue 120 for a saftey award at a mine,I think. Another, life member has who traffics here has it.His purchase was worth it just to get that sheath. The picture doesn't do it justice. They are well made.DM

The guy who designed those was Wes Chapman. He worked for our leather department and was an artist in leather and could make frameable pictures in leather. Really really talented.

I am pretty sure those were designed for the custom shop so we were not sending out custom knives with factory sheaths and then got added to the line as an option.

They are nice looking and well made sheaths. I haven't used either one of the two I have for the 110, but I think I'll start breaking one in today.

It's a great sheath for the 110.

Please click the pic'.

Best,
Haebbie

Nice looking sheath's guys. But, I like Herbert's Mobydick 110 better (Thar she blows captain it's the white whale) :p;).

The sheaths that you have, unlike the sheaths pictured for the 120, are the same as some I have with the center strap. Don't know where they fit in the timeline with the sheaths pictured for the 120 w/o the center strap. Nevertheless here they are.

And yes they are thick---1" thick at center strap; 3/4" thick at tip end.

Telechronos :):)
