Title says it all. Really looking forward to the thicker bladed MLEK Extreme. Will the liners also be upgraded to a thicker liner, and will they still be nested?

Not sure on when they'll hit the streets.

As far as I've heard, the specs are basically the same with the exception of the thicker liners, blades and scales. So, yes, the liners will be thicker and will still be nested. I heard that the liner thckness only increased by .010 (from .040 to .050), which isn't all that much. The Spyderco Military has a .050 locking liner, so that should give you a frame of reference for how thick the Magnum liners will be. Not to say that .050 isn't plenty sufficient for a stainless steel locking liner, it's just not that big of an increase for the BladeTech knives, which to me are already darn near perfect. The blade thickness is said to have increased from 1/8" to 5/32". That, too, isn't that big of an increase. They should be durable, good functioning knives. I look forward to seeing a review.

Thanks 3G. I knew about the thickness of the blade and agree that it is not much, but the .157" is the same size as my Rijbak and with the flat grind it has should do just fine. I agree that the .050" liner, being steel, will probably hold up just fine, I just was hoping it might go around .070". I'm hoping that they were introduced at the Shot Show and will be available this spring.

No problem, cutter17.:) I, too, was hoping for thicker (.070 sounds good to me, too) liners as well, but I guess you can't have everything. I have had the hardest time trying to track down Bladetech new releases! I have been looking for a while for the fixed blade Pro Hunter and haven't been able to find one anywhere! I sure hope it isn't the same case with the Magnums!
