That's what they said about whalesThe vast majority of it comes out of Siberia. As long as they continue to uncover the fossilized remains of woolly mammoths, the supply will be there. Some have estimated as many as 10 million mammoth "corpses" have yet to be discovered.
So supply doesn't appear to be an issue here, at least for the foreseeable future. What may curtail the trade in mammoth ivory are those who believe such legal demand contributes to the demand of illegal elephant ivory. As such, groups are currently working to get all forms of ivory put on the CITES list...
