When will we see a 5160 124?

I wish they would add the 124 to the custom options online...

yep, this^.

choice of steels would be nice.

i don't really want a 5160 124, i'd prefer an a2 or 01, or 1095cv, etc. course buck isn't playing with those steels so wish list stuff.

I would like to see one in 5160. Maybe Copper and Clad will add one to their lineup.

I would much, much rather see a 120 and 124 in 50100B. It is superior for this type of knife to 5160, in my opinion. A lot of knowledgeable knife makers who make knives for hard use prefer this steel.

I would love to see a 124 in 5160 (or just about any other quality carbon steel).

50100B is equivalent to O-1 tool steel. It is also like 1095 with vanadium and other nice things added (like O-1). It is cheaper than O-1 and can be run very hard for stellar edge retention if one so desires. It can be run a bit softer for impact resistance, too. Becker uses this steel run a bit softer. Cold Steel used to use this and marketed it under a name made up by them as Carbon V.

In reality, this is great stuff. It would be a far better choice than 5160. It has more carbon and it has a lot of vanadium, nickel, and a lot of manganese. It is tough, strong, and holds an edge very well. It is not stainless and only has enough chromium to form carbides and give hardness but not make it stainless.

So, Becker's 1095CV is in actuality 50100B? If that's the case, I completely agree with you. I've used Becker knives for many years and have nothing but praise for the steel (Beckerhead #150). Having a 124 in the same steel would be absolutely wonderful.

A perfect choice I'd say.

The fact is that Buck has been making a lot of stuff out of 5160 lately. If we ever see a carbon steel 124 it will probably be 5160. I'm fine with that.

I would prefer to see those options on such a classic knife straight from the custom shop with a larger variety of handle and steel options. Then again I don't see any of the 916 Bowies ordered from the custom shop on here. I'm curious how many 124 my favorite btw are sold vs 110 and 112's. 5160 or 1095 etc are good value steels.

I have wanted Buck to add the 124 to the customs page for a long time and have stated it many times. I want one in 154CM or which ever version of 154 Buck uses. I also want more rounded slabs and in Burgundy Micarta and Nickel Silver with a distressed leather sheath.
