a friend just outside of town has an area in his woods that has a bunch of small trees he wouldnt mind cleared. you can camp out overnight and start chopping away in the afternoon. i'll have my sharpening gear set up for anyone that wants to learn how to sharpen their knives.

I would like to break in the new FBM and learn to sharpen it.... It would be worth the 14hr ride ;-)

I rarely chop with a knife. I mean, I use my knives to CUT stuff, for chopping and taking down large trees I use an axe instead, simply because an axe is made for such things.

Maybe it's me, but as much as I find illogical to cut things with an axe, I am reluctant to use knives for tasks which require axes. I know, it is possible to chop well with a FBM, but I am sure I can outchop a FBM easily with a 50 Euro axe.

So I take it you're not going to the chop-in?

As for myself I will chop with my FFBM until the cows come home.

eburon, the knife i call k II was really made for a kitchen knife but it chops very well. tel1sps, you can bring a tent and camp out in his woods if you come over. i'm not 100% sure but my buddys daughter might have rooms available in their b&b for thoes that dont camp outside. i'll find out and let anyone interested know the details on the rooms.

i talked to my buddy. the weekend of july 25th is good for him. the bed and breakfast is open for anyone who doesnt want to camp outside. you can bring an atv since there are trails to ride through the woods.

It is logical that an ax will out chop a knife, the point, at least for me is that chopping with a knife is A) fun as hell and B) if I can carry 1 tool to do 2 jobs in the woods why not, otherwise I carry a knife and an ax into the forrest. Just my opinion

when are they supposed to ship? do you really need to have a zilla before you come to a chop in? there's plenty of trees that you can chop down. if anyone has an atv or dirtbike you can bring it too. there are trails all through the woods.
