.....just out of curiousity when you guys purchase knives do you keep all your paperwork? do you buy them for collectability? and do you ever buy more than one of the same knife and put one, or two back?

If I like something and I can get a decent price I will buy more than one, two, ect. Other times I will buy if it might be collectable, or the quality is good. I will often buy one to use, and put back one or two more. I even keep the receipts, although my wife (bless her heart!!) has gotten on to me about all the recepts I have.

What motivates your knife buying habits??? and do you keep all relating materials when you buy knives???? :)

In my early years I didn't save the paperwork unless it was a commemorative, or a collectable. Now I save everything, whether it's a user or not.:D

Keep everything. If I ever sell a knife I like to be able to send everything it came with. I don't keep receipts though;) On customs there are no papers, but these knives usually speak for themselves.

Often I will double up on some models if I really, really like it and want to make a daily carry of it. The last one I did this on was the Al Mar SERE 2000. I have an Al Mar Shrike coming tomorrow or Friday and it promises to be as good as the SERE so........................:)

Art, I bought a Bud Nealy Blued O-1 Aikuchi, about 15 years ago and it came with papers descibing the knife, steel, handle material serial# and a hand written receipt from Bud himself.

So some custom Makers do supply paperwork with their knives.

On the knives I handmake sometimes I will supply the receipt from the materials I use and I usaully write out the care instructions, (blade steel, taking care of it, reminding someone bone can be fragile, whatever handle material may be, ect) especially if the person receiving it isnt a big knifenut.
I like to prevent mishaps before they happen!!!! :)

I keep all the info on my purchases.

When I buy more than 1 or a knife I usually end up giving the "extras" ;) to friends as gifts (even if they are really expensive.) :)

Later,
Tom

I started keeping the boxes and that paperwork but I never keep the receipts.

automantic I want to be your friend!
