Since there are quite a few gun bugs runnin' 'round here, and we always love talkin' about guns I figured it may be worth while to talk about what we actually do with 'em...
It's been about three weeks for me. Last shootin' trip at my secret riverbed location before the snow hit and I lost access to it.
I shot
My ancient Ruger Mk I
my Cimmaron Arms Bisley .45 SA
my Marlin 45/70
my Windchester 94 in .45 LC
My Remington 541 .22
as well as my buddy's Volquartsen 77/22 and 10/22, and Walther P-22
My 94 was a huge disappointment. Very easy to short stroke, and unreliable feeding. Needs a new mag spring
Marlin somewhat disappointed me. first shot jumped a cartridge past the gate and tangled the gun something fierce. Next 30 or so shot well though. It was a mild 300 grain load that tangled up, but I test fired a mag of Buffalo Bore 430 grain +Ps later without a problem.
Highlight was outshooting my buddy at 70 yards with my 541 with a 6X scope. Especially when I hit a bullseye dead on...PERFECT quite a feat since my crosshairs were covering it up. (Friend used his Volquartsens and 4-14X Burris scopes)
Lowlight was losing out to him on the dueling tree at 60 yds time after time.
highlight was the cozy fire we built, and his falling in love with my Chiruwa AK. Wound up giving him my 18 inch Sirupati. I'm down to one khuk now!
All in all a fantastic day shooting. I'm going again tomorrow, except I'm moving indoors for the winter now. (yech!)
