Since there are quite a few gun bugs runnin' 'round here, and we always love talkin' about guns I figured it may be worth while to talk about what we actually do with 'em...

It's been about three weeks for me. Last shootin' trip at my secret riverbed location before the snow hit and I lost access to it.

I shot

My ancient Ruger Mk I
my Cimmaron Arms Bisley .45 SA
my Marlin 45/70
my Windchester 94 in .45 LC
My Remington 541 .22

as well as my buddy's Volquartsen 77/22 and 10/22, and Walther P-22

My 94 was a huge disappointment. Very easy to short stroke, and unreliable feeding. Needs a new mag spring

Marlin somewhat disappointed me. first shot jumped a cartridge past the gate and tangled the gun something fierce. Next 30 or so shot well though. It was a mild 300 grain load that tangled up, but I test fired a mag of Buffalo Bore 430 grain +Ps later without a problem.

Highlight was outshooting my buddy at 70 yards with my 541 with a 6X scope. Especially when I hit a bullseye dead on...PERFECT quite a feat since my crosshairs were covering it up. (Friend used his Volquartsens and 4-14X Burris scopes)

Lowlight was losing out to him on the dueling tree at 60 yds time after time.

highlight was the cozy fire we built, and his falling in love with my Chiruwa AK. Wound up giving him my 18 inch Sirupati. I'm down to one khuk now!

All in all a fantastic day shooting. I'm going again tomorrow, except I'm moving indoors for the winter now. (yech!)

USPSA Kentucky State 3-Gun Match in October.

Shot my Kimber .45, Remington 1100, and Bushmaster superlight carbine.

Shot like crap, had lots of fun, gear worked 100% as usual. Did better with rifle than pistol or shotgun, as usual. Had two misses on rifle (not usual!), but one was a scoring error in my opinion (that can't be fixed now) and the other was carelessness. Got both aerial clays during the shotgun stage with two clay flippers (first time ever!).

I've missed all of the local matches since then because I've been sick. I have a 3-Gun on Sunday, so hopefully I'll make it.

Almost went shooting today with a friend of mine but he backed out at the last minute, citing fear of irate deer hunters. Otherwise its been about a month. Shot my Glock 22 at the outdoor gun range.

Man, it's been awhile. (forgive me father for I have sinned it's been 2 months since my last range visit) At least 2 months. The friend I shoot with is in an intensive RN program and can rarely go.

Yeah, that's right. A nurse who packs heat--watch out when you go to the hospital up in Maine:D

Great thread idea...

Nov. 20.

Took a friend & his 10-yr. old son. The boy had been promised a shooting trip for a month, and had come thru with good grades & behavior.

Took a .22 auto rifle & pistol for him. Lot of deer hunters zeroing in (their once a year trip to the range, right before deer season. "Yep. Still hits.") but the noise didn't faze him.

Bud & I shot a GP-WASR 10, and 4 or 5 other toys.... til thumbs were black and hurt from reloading. About 5 hrs there. A good day.

STILL cleaning guns from it.... Every gun owner really should shoot once a month.

I can walk about 50 feet from my door and shoot. But this time of year it's too dark except weekends, plus it's deer season so I have been hunting on Sat. (and will be tomorrow)

Last Sunday I shot 3 clips (36 rounds) thru my CZ 82 pistol and 3 clips (24 rounds) thru my Makarov IJ 70. Both guns are 9X18. A couple months ago I got 2000 rounds of Brown Bear and I have already used up 500.

This Sunday if it's sunny I want to shoot my Russian and Yugo M59 SKS's. I got trigger jobs done on both of them recently and have about 600 rounds of the Wolf and 400 of the Yugo M67? ammo for them and have been having a lot of fun shooting them.

On a side note I actually outshot the CZ 82 with the Makarov, and I am always amazed how, for such a cheap pistol the Makarav shoots. I was shooting offhand at 25 yards and can keep all of them in a pie plate sized circle and most in the inner 2/3 of the plate with the Makarov.

Hey, HD, I sent you a note a couple of days ago about ammo for the 7.62. SportsmansGuide has it for about $.095/round, including shipping. Milsurp, of course, but that's what I shoot.

Oh, yeah: about 2 weeks ago, shot about 80 rounds of the stuff (7.62X54R) through my Mosin-Nagant M44. The targets are still very safe.

Ardv,

Got your message and thanks for keeping me in mind. I actually bought some of that very ammo a while back. I like it a lot. Huge muzzle flash and it actually causes the grass in front of the gun to lay down.

My M38 shoots great. I put a scout mount on it and a NC Star 2 to 7 on it and was keeping most in a baseball sized area at 100 (from a rest) even cutting a bunch together. Got some FNM 180 softpoints and took it deer hunting one day but didn't get to use it. I want to take the scope off after hunting season. I was up at Makarov.com last week and they had a laminated M44 that was crying out to me:rolleyes: Also I notice AIM has the 91/30 laminated and I was thinking about one of those too. They are cheap and fun to shoot!

Two weeks ago: Springer 1911 and FN HP

Ten days ago: .54 caliber T/C Renegade

Tomorrow: Will attempt to kill Bambi's mom with said Renegade. ;)

Too long... about a month.

Here's my latest - an FN FAL, 308 camo job by Derek at Arizona Expert Arms.

My favorite CCW is a Les Baer Stinger, 4.25" barrel on an officers frame.

A month and a half ago, but I'll be shooting this Sunday with a couple of friends.

Well, was it just yesterday? I set out on a snowy afternoon with my sons to break in the brand new Stevens Favorite single shot .22 mag.

Only the gun wanted to fire all the time without me, so I'm never got to go.....
does that count?

I guess I,m in big trouble ! Its been three years since I last shot a firearm . I,ve been concentrating on my longbow and primitive archery shooting . I,ve been doing that three or four times a week for eight years .
In 96 I was the only emplyoyee of a bankrupt state of the art indoor range . I was paid to sit there and do nothing all day . I couldn,t shoot cause they lost their permits . So I sat there all day doing nothing . My boss did question me as to why all that brass kept piling up ! L:O:L

You make me feel better two years as of October, excluding deer season here in Kentucky, I dropped a small doe.

havent shot since last summer. Shot some skeet with my buddy john (Lurp on BF)
Sporting clays are deffinately my favorite

Was at the range with my boys a few months ago. Too long ago really. They shot my 640, 642 and 686, as well as a AMT Lightning pistol. The AMT was a blast for them...pull trigger as fast as you can and empty magazine...load again and repeat!

I am getting a new 1911 type for my birthday in a week. It is a Para Ord LTC. Need to test that and see how it stacks up to my "custom" 1911 in terms of reliabilty and accuracy.

Note that I belong to a shooting club having stringent rules. Paper targets only at prescribed ranges. Not near as much fun as when I had a "farm" and could step out the door and shoot however and at whatever I wanted. The shooting club and its rules are the main reason I don't shoot as much as I used to. Plinking rules! Soda cans, Necco wafers, rats....paper just isn't the same.

Go shooting again soon. Good for the soul and good for our Country.

Just back after 10 days in W.Va. Monday, 9:30 AM, bfore Thanksgiving, middlin' size fork horn buck. Two days later, 8:30 AM, another buck, this one a seven pointer, AND less than 15 feet from where I killed a similar buck just two years ago. The rifle, a Ruger Model 77RSI in .270 Win. Total rounds fired, three. Spent more time than that on the meat. I suppose that counts...

Been about a month since I went shooting to qualify with the dang gum Berreta I have to carry at work. Need to go shoot my Sig Sauer's (P220 45 acp, P225 9mm) and my 45acp Ar-15 carbine.

Does hunting count?

Sometimes it ends up being just "shooting."

I do both, but these teen temperatures and old legs keep me inside fairly often.

I took out the ol' benelli quacker smacker last December and used crappy steel shot out of 3" mag loads. I'll never use steel again. I bought a bunch of the remington hevi-shot, but haven't been hunting this year. Maybe geese later in the season. Been more interested in traditional bowhunting/archery. Obsessed with it, actually.
